You know what hits you first when you pull up that winding drive on Crescent Moon? It’s not just another Scottsdale resort trying too hard to be fancy – this Four Seasons actually earns its keep. The setting is honestly ridiculous in the best way, tucked right into the Sonoran Desert with those jagged Pinnacle Peak views that look like someone painted them on. I mean, you’re literally surrounded by saguaros and desert ironwood that’s been here longer than the city itself.
The rooms are what you’d expect from Four Seasons – that perfect balance of luxury without feeling like you can’t touch anything. But here’s the thing that surprised me: they actually get the desert right. Instead of fighting against the landscape with some weird tropical theme (looking at you, other Scottsdale resorts), they lean into it. The casita-style layout means you’re not stuck in some towering hotel block, and honestly, the walk to your room through all those desert gardens is half the experience. The spa is tucked into the mountainside in a way that feels almost secret – you’ll hear quail calling while you’re getting a massage, which is pretty surreal if you’re used to city spa experiences.
What really sets this place apart though is the location. You’re close enough to Old Town Scottsdale for dinner (about 20 minutes if you avoid rush hour on Scottsdale Road), but far enough out that you actually feel like you’re in the desert, not just looking at it from a poolside cabana. The Troon North golf courses are right there – and trust me, if you’re into golf, this is legitimately some of the most challenging and beautiful desert golf you’ll find. Even if you’re not a golfer, those morning walks around the property when the desert is waking up are worth the early alarm. The pool area gets busy during snowbird season (January through March), but there’s enough space that it never feels crowded. Actually, one of my favorite spots is this little seating area near the adults-only pool where you can watch the sunset paint those rocks about fifteen different shades of red and orange. The service has that Four Seasons polish – they remember your name and your coffee order – but without the stuffiness you sometimes get at these places. Parking is easy and free, which shouldn’t be noteworthy but somehow is these days.
