This isn’t just some resort that happens to be near the water; it’s this sprawling, old-money New England estate that actually feels like it belongs on this stretch of coastline. The main building has that classic shingled look that screams Cape Cod elegance without trying too hard, you know?

What really gets me about this place is how they’ve managed to keep that authentic Chatham vibe while still being genuinely luxurious. I mean, you’re literally perched on one of the most gorgeous spots overlooking Pleasant Bay – and honestly, the views from the beach-facing rooms are worth the splurge alone. You can watch the boats coming and going from Chatham Harbor, and if you time it right (usually around 5 PM), you’ll catch the seals hauling out on the sandbars. The staff actually knows about this stuff too, which is refreshing. They’re not just reciting some script about “oceanfront beauty” – they’ll tell you the best times for spotting wildlife or when the tides are right for walking out to the flats.

The whole property feels like it unfolds as you explore it. There’s the main inn, obviously, but then you’ve got these cottages scattered around that feel more private, and the spa building tucked away where it’s actually quiet. I stayed in October once (honestly one of the best times to visit the Cape – fewer crowds, better rates, still beautiful), and the whole place had this cozy, almost intimate feel despite being pretty substantial in size. The beach bar area gets lively during summer evenings, but it never feels chaotic or overrun like some resort scenes can get. And here’s something practical – parking is actually easy, which anyone who’s dealt with Chatham in July will tell you is no small thing. You’re also perfectly positioned to walk into town along Shore Road, though it’s a bit of a hike if you’re not into that. The real advantage is being right there when you want to explore Monomoy or take one of those seal tours that leave from Chatham Harbor – you’re literally five minutes from the action without dealing with the downtown parking nightmare.
