HOTEL OVERVIEW
You know what struck me first about the Hilton Myrtle Beach Resort? It’s actually got some breathing room. While most of the oceanfront hotels along the Grand Strand are practically stacked on top of each other, this place sits on Beach Club Drive with enough space that you’re not staring directly into someone else’s balcony. The lobby has that polished Hilton feel — marble floors, predictable but comfortable seating areas — though honestly, you’ll probably breeze right through it to get to the good stuff outside.
The real draw here is the pool setup and beach access. I mean, the lazy river isn’t going to win any awards for excitement, but it’s perfect for floating around with a drink when the ocean gets too choppy (which happens more than you’d think in Myrtle Beach, especially during summer afternoons). The pools can get pretty crowded during peak season — we’re talking July and early August when families descend en masse — but if you stake out a spot early morning or late afternoon, it’s actually quite pleasant. The beach itself is… well, it’s Myrtle Beach sand, so don’t expect the sugar-white stuff you’ll find further south, but the resort keeps their section relatively clean and the lifeguards are on point.
What I really appreciated was how they’ve managed the whole resort feel without completely isolating you from the area. You’re still close enough to walk to some decent seafood spots — there’s this little place called Sea Captain’s House about a mile north that locals actually eat at, not just tourists. The resort shuttle will take you to Broadway at the Beach if you’re not up for driving, though honestly, having a car makes everything easier here. Parking is included, which sounds basic but you’d be surprised how many beachfront places nickel and dime you for it. The rooms are solid Hilton standard — nothing that’ll blow you away, but the beds are comfortable and the balcony views (if you splurge for oceanfront) are legitimately nice, especially at sunrise when the beach is empty except for the occasional jogger or metal detector enthusiast. Just be aware that the elevator situation can get a bit chaotic during check-in and check-out times on weekends. The service is generally good, though it definitely feels more corporate than boutique — efficient but not particularly personal. For families or couples wanting a reliable beachfront experience without the chaos of some of the older resort strips, it hits the mark pretty well.
