The first thing that hits you when you walk in is how… well, lived-in it feels. I mean that in a good way, mostly. This isn’t some sterile corporate hotel where everything’s been focus-grouped to death. The casino floor has that authentic Vegas energy – you know, the kind where locals actually hang out and play, not just tourists taking Instagram photos. The sports book is legitimately solid too, especially during football season when the place gets properly rowdy. What I really appreciate is the pool area – it’s big enough that you can find a quiet corner even when things get busy, and the cabanas aren’t ridiculously overpriced like some places on the main Strip. Plus, parking is free, which honestly saves you like $25 a day compared to most Strip hotels.
Now, the rooms are… functional. They’re clean and the beds are decent, but don’t expect anything Instagram-worthy. The elevators can be slow during peak times (I’m talking like weekend evenings when everyone’s getting ready to go out), and some of the carpeting definitely shows its age. But here’s what works – the rooms are actually bigger than what you’ll get at most Strip properties for the same price, and if you get one facing east, you’ve got a pretty solid view of the mountains in the morning. The Wi-Fi is reliable, which matters more than people think when you’re trying to coordinate dinner plans or check show times. Food-wise, the Italian place downstairs is surprisingly good – not blow-your-mind amazing, but solid comfort food that won’t break the bank. The staff generally knows what they’re doing too, especially the front desk crew who seem to actually live in Vegas and can give you real recommendations instead of just pointing you toward the most expensive options. If you’re someone who wants to be in Vegas without paying Strip premiums for everything, and you don’t need your hotel to be part of the entertainment, the Westgate makes sense. It’s got that old-school Vegas vibe before everything became corporate theme parks, and sometimes that’s exactly what you’re looking for.

We came for the Bender Jamboree so this was a music festival several stages inside the venue (as well as by the pool). All the stages were just steps away. The room was great as was the view.
