You know what surprised me most about the Hyatt Regency Coconut Point? It’s actually tucked away from all the Naples tourist chaos, sitting right on this gorgeous stretch of Estero Bay that most people driving down 41 completely miss. I mean, you’re literally five minutes from Coconut Point mall if you need to grab something, but the resort feels like it’s in its own little world – which honestly is exactly what you want when you’re trying to escape.

The whole place has this laid-back Florida vibe without feeling stuffy or overly formal. The lobby opens right up to these water views that’ll make you forget you were just sitting in I-75 traffic twenty minutes ago. What really got me was how they’ve designed everything around the water – there’s this lazy river that actually feels relaxing (not like those crazy theme park ones), and the main pool area faces west so you get these incredible sunset views over the bay. The spa is solid too, though I’d book treatments early since it fills up fast, especially during snowbird season from January through March.

Here’s something you won’t find in the typical hotel write-ups: the marina situation is fantastic if you’re into boating or want to try paddleboarding. They’ve got rentals right there, and you can actually paddle out to some really quiet spots in the bay where you might see manatees – I’m not kidding, it happens more often than you’d think. The beach itself is small but peaceful, and since it’s on the bay side rather than the Gulf, the water’s usually calmer and warmer. Plus, if you do want that classic Florida Gulf beach experience, Barefoot Beach (which locals will tell you is way better than the crowded Naples beaches) is maybe a ten-minute drive north.

The rooms are what you’d expect from Hyatt – clean, comfortable, good beds – but request something facing the water if you can swing it. The restaurant scene is actually pretty decent; their main restaurant does this great stone crab when it’s in season, and the poolside bar makes a solid fish sandwich that doesn’t cost you thirty bucks. Parking is free, which seems obvious but honestly isn’t always the case at Florida resorts these days. One small thing – the elevators can be slow during busy periods, but that’s really my only complaint.

If you’re planning to visit, just know that this place gets busy during Fort Myers/Naples peak season, but it never feels overwhelming like some of the bigger resort chains. The staff actually seems to know what they’re doing, check-in was smooth even when I arrived during a busy weekend, and they’re pretty good about helping you figure out what to do if you want to venture beyond the resort. It’s the kind of place where you could easily spend three days without leaving the property, but you’d also be missing out on some great stuff nearby – like the nature preserve at Delnor-Wiggins or even a day trip down to Sanibel if you’re feeling ambitious.
