HOTEL OVERVIEW
You know what caught me off guard about Mountain View Grand Resort & Spa? The moment you pull into that circular drive on Mountain View Road, you’re hit with this “wait, am I really in New Hampshire?” feeling. The place sits on this sprawling property that honestly feels more like a southern plantation than a White Mountain resort – which actually makes sense since it dates back to 1865. The white columns and wraparound porches are pretty stunning, I’ll give them that.
The thing about staying here is that you’re genuinely in the middle of nowhere (and I mean that in the best way). Whitefield isn’t exactly a bustling tourist town – it’s more like the place locals escape to when North Conway gets too crazy with leaf peepers and ski crowds. The resort kind of banks on that isolation, though. Their spa is actually solid – not just some tiny room with a massage table, but a proper facility where you can spend half a day without feeling like you’re being rushed out. The indoor pool area has this old-school elegance that works, especially when it’s snowing outside and you can watch it through those big windows.
Here’s the practical stuff that matters: parking is never an issue (they’ve got plenty of space), and check-in was surprisingly smooth for a place this size. The rooms vary quite a bit depending on which building you’re in – some have that historic charm with creaky floors and all, while others in the newer sections feel more standard hotel-ish. Honestly, I’d spring for one of the rooms facing the Presidential Range if you can swing it, because those mountain views are legit. The restaurant is better than you’d expect for being this remote – they actually source quite a bit locally, which shows. Sure, it’s not cheap, but you’re paying for that whole “grand resort” experience, and they deliver on most of it. Just don’t expect much nightlife beyond the lobby bar – but if you wanted that, you probably wouldn’t be staying in Whitefield anyway, right?

The resort is beautiful. There is so much to do and see. The lobby has fires and a welcoming bar. A cute little store to grab your morning coffee and space to sit outside and take in the beautiful views. The spa is lovely and the staff were very nice. Only thing I’d suggest is getting fresh pair of slippers. They are no longer white.

We love the overall feel of the resort. It was so nice to see all of the different guests hanging out and enjoying the large lobby area. My family enjoyed the pool table, board game room, and the movie theater. All of the food that we ordered from the restaurant was very good.
