The spa here is genuinely impressive – not just some afterthought wellness center they slapped onto a golf hotel. I mean, the pool area has this really nice view over the golf course, and honestly, soaking in that hot tub while watching golfers struggle with the Scottish weather never gets old. The rooms are what you’d expect from a solid 4-star place, though some of the ones facing the car park are a bit underwhelming (ask for a golf course view if you can). What I really appreciated was how quiet it gets at night – you’re far enough from the M80 that traffic isn’t an issue, and the soundproofing between rooms is actually decent. Check-in was smooth when I stayed, though I’ve heard summer wedding season can make things a bit chaotic.

Here’s the thing about this place – it’s become a bit of a hidden gem for people who want that resort feel without the London prices or the hassle of flying somewhere. The golf course is properly challenging (designed by Seve Ballesteros, actually), and even if you’re not into golf, those grounds are perfect for morning walks. The restaurant does solid Scottish fare without being too fancy about it, and their Sunday roast is honestly worth the drive from Glasgow alone. It’s about 20 minutes from the city center, which makes it feel like an escape but keeps you close enough to pop into town if you want. Plus, parking is free and plentiful – something that’ll make sense when you’ve spent a fortune on Glasgow city center hotel parking. The 7.6 rating feels about right to me; it’s not going to blow your mind, but it delivers exactly what it promises without any major disappointments.
