The thing about this place is it feels more like a family-run operation than some massive resort machine, which has its pros and cons. Check-in was refreshingly quick – no one’s trying to upsell you on premium rooms or spa packages right off the bat. The staff actually remembers your name after a day or two, which you don’t get at those big chain places. Now, I won’t sugarcoat it – the 5.8 rating tells you something, and yeah, there are rough edges. The WiFi can be spotty (especially during monsoon season when I was there), and some of the room fixtures could use updating. But here’s what I didn’t expect: the pool area is actually lovely, surrounded by these old cashew trees that provide natural shade, and the water’s always clean. You’ll hear the occasional motorbike puttering by, but it’s nothing like the constant honking you get closer to the main strip.

What really sold me on the place was the location knowledge you get from staying here. The resort’s positioned so you can take this little dirt path – honestly, it looks sketchy at first – that cuts directly to a quieter stretch of Candolim beach. Most tourists never find it because they stick to the main beach entrances near the shacks and jet ski operators. Early morning walks along this section are genuinely peaceful, just you and maybe a few local fishermen setting up their nets. The resort also has this informal partnership with a local taxi driver, Ravi, who knows every shortcut to places like Mapusa market or even up to Old Goa – way better than relying on those tourist taxi stands. Food-wise, their breakfast is simple but solid (the Goan sausage and bread is legit), though you’ll definitely want to venture out for dinner. There’s this incredible little place called Martin’s Corner about ten minutes away that the front desk will point you toward. Honestly, for a 3-star place, Lillywoods delivers where it counts – clean rooms, helpful staff, and that authentic Goan laid-back vibe without the tourist trap premium. It’s not going to blow your mind, but if you’re looking for a genuine local experience in Candolim without emptying your wallet, this spot actually works pretty well.
