The resort has that laid-back backwater vibe that makes Kumarakom special in the first place. It’s a 3-star property, sure, but they’ve nailed the essentials – the traditional Kerala architecture with those red-tiled roofs actually works here instead of feeling like a tourist trap. The rooms are clean and comfortable (though don’t expect marble bathrooms or anything), and the AC works properly, which matters more than you’d think when you’re this close to the equator. What I really appreciated was how quiet it gets at night – none of that Alleppey chaos with boat engines running till midnight. You’ll actually sleep well here.

The food situation is better than expected too. Their fish curry is legit – they’re clearly getting fresh catch from the lake, and the chef knows how to handle Kerala spices without going overboard for tourists. Breakfast on the deck overlooking the water is honestly one of those simple pleasures that makes travel worth it. The staff is genuinely helpful rather than just polite, and they’ll set up houseboat trips without the usual runaround (though you should still negotiate prices yourself). The pool area is nothing fancy, but it’s clean and gets good shade in the afternoon when you need it most.

Here’s the thing about this place – it sits in that sweet spot where you’re getting authentic backwater access without roughing it completely. You’re about 15 minutes from the main Kumarakom boat jetty, so you’re not stuck relying only on hotel arrangements, but you’re also far enough from the tourist crowds to actually relax. The 8.2 rating makes sense because while it’s not perfect (Wi-Fi can be spotty, and some rooms are definitely better than others), it delivers on what matters most: location, decent comfort, and that unhurried Kerala pace that’s impossible to fake. If you’re looking for Instagram-perfect luxury, keep looking. But if you want to actually experience the backwaters without breaking the bank or dealing with tourist circus, this place gets it right.
