So I ended up at Leoney Resort in Vagator, and honestly? It’s one of those places that grows on you. First impression was pretty standard – I mean, it’s a 3-star spot, so you know what you’re getting into – but the location is actually what makes it worth considering. You’re right on Ozran Beach Road, which means you can literally walk to that gorgeous stretch of sand where all the beach shacks serve killer fish curry (and where you’ll probably end up spending half your afternoons anyway).

The thing about Vagator is that it’s got this laid-back vibe that’s hard to find in some of the more touristy parts of Goa. Leoney fits right into that scene – it’s not trying to be fancy, just comfortable enough to crash after a day of beach hopping or exploring the old Portuguese ruins up the hill. The rooms are clean, AC works (thank god, because Goa heat is no joke), and you know what I appreciated? The staff actually seems to know the area. Like, they’ll tell you which beach shack has the best prawn curry or when the sunset looks incredible from Chapora Fort – stuff you can’t Google.

Now, I’ll be real with you – the 6.7 rating isn’t stellar, and you can see why in some of the details. The Wi-Fi can be spotty, especially during monsoon season when half of Goa’s internet seems to give up. And if you’re looking for a pool scene or fancy spa treatments, this isn’t your place. But here’s what I found: location trumps a lot of things in Goa. You’re walking distance from both the quieter Ozran Beach and the livelier Vagator Beach, plus you can catch those famous Anjuna flea market vibes without dealing with Anjuna’s chaos. The Portuguese architecture in the area is stunning – I spent hours just wandering the narrow roads taking photos. And honestly, when you’re spending most of your time on the beach or exploring local markets anyway, you just need a clean place to sleep and shower off the sand. Leoney delivers on that front, and the price point means you’ll have more rupees left over for those amazing seafood dinners and maybe a scooter rental to explore the coastline. It’s not going to wow you, but it’ll do the job while you fall in love with this particular slice of Goa.
