HOTEL OVERVIEW
You know what surprised me most about OMO7 Asahikawa? It’s not trying to be some stuffy luxury hotel – and honestly, that’s exactly what makes it work so well. The moment you walk into the lobby on 6 Jo-dori, there’s this energy that feels more like a really well-designed community space than a typical hotel. I mean, Hoshino Resorts has this reputation for being pretty upscale, but they’ve done something different here that actually fits Asahikawa’s vibe perfectly.
The location is honestly brilliant if you know the city at all. You’re right in the heart of things on 6 Jo-dori – I could walk to Kaimono Koen in about three minutes, and the whole Sanroku area with all the good izakayas is basically next door. What I really appreciated was how they’ve designed the public spaces to encourage you to hang out and plan your day. There’s this great map area where you can actually figure out your route to Asahioka or up to the Asahiyama Zoo without fumbling with your phone. The staff genuinely knows the area too – not just the tourist spots, but where locals actually go for ramen at 11 PM on a Tuesday.
The rooms themselves are smart rather than flashy. Everything’s been thought through for people who are actually in Hokkaido to do things, not just lie around the hotel. Plenty of space to spread out your snow gear in winter, good lighting for planning your day, and – this matters more than you’d think – really effective blackout curtains for those summer nights when it stays light until almost 10 PM. I stayed during cherry blossom season and you could hear a bit of street noise from 6 Jo-dori, but it’s the good kind of urban hum that reminds you you’re in the middle of a real, working city. The breakfast situation is solid too, with local Hokkaido ingredients that actually taste like something – not the generic hotel buffet stuff you get at a lot of places. Sure, at this price point you might expect a few more bells and whistles, but I’d rather have a place that does the essentials really well than somewhere that’s all show. If you’re using Asahikawa as your base for exploring central Hokkaido, this place gets it right where it counts.

The overall set up and warm & creative decoration. The salmon waffle served on breakfast is a something unique and surprisingly good . Enjoyed the spa and hotel provided very clear instructions on the step of bathing .

The breakfast was beautifully decorated, staff very helpful all dishes were fresh. Lots of choices.
What could be improved: I would have liked a chef that prepares eggs and fresh orange juice, or an option to order these items.

Loved it here. Such a great location in Asahikawa. And shuttles to all the ski fields. We loved our room layout and the great use of space.
It was nice to enjoy the happy hour after skiing and a few snacks. Staff were really lovely and very helpful. Will definitely be back!

Great staff - english not so great but unbelievably attentive and tried really really hard to be helpful - breakfast was hard to fault - amazing variety - amazing quality - just exceptional all-round. The free services such as welcome drinks, Asahiyama zoo lectures were attractive. The storage in the small room was very creative (utilised under the beds). The staff was very friendly and helpful.
