Candeo Hotels Hiroshima Hatchobori

730-0013 Hiroshima, Hiroshima, Naka-ku Hatchobori 14-1, Japan
HOTEL OVERVIEW
Look, I’ve stayed at a lot of business hotels in Japan, and honestly? Most of them blur together after a while. But Candeo Hotels Hiroshima Hatchobori actually stuck with me – and not just because of that sky spa on the top floor (though we’ll get to that).
The location is what sold me initially. You’re right in Hatchobori, which means you can walk to pretty much everything that matters in central Hiroshima. I mean, the Peace Memorial Park is maybe fifteen minutes on foot, and there’s this fantastic okonomiyaki place called Nagata-ya just around the corner that the hotel staff quietly recommended – the kind of spot you’d never find without a local tip. The tram stops are everywhere around here, so getting to Miyajima or anywhere else is pretty straightforward. What I really appreciated though was how quiet it stays at night, even though you’re in the middle of everything. The building’s set back just enough from the main road that you don’t get that constant traffic hum.
The rooms themselves feel surprisingly spacious for Japan – I had one of their standard doubles and could actually open my suitcase on the floor without doing gymnastics around the bed. The bathroom was one of those sleek Japanese setups where everything just works perfectly, and honestly, the shower pressure was better than my apartment back home. But here’s the thing that really impressed me: they’ve got this whole floor dedicated to a public bath and spa area up top, with views over the city. I went up there around sunset one evening and you can see clear across to the mountains – it’s the kind of moment that makes you remember why you travel in the first place. The water’s actually from a natural hot spring, which you don’t expect to find in a city center hotel.
The staff deserves a mention too. Check-in was smooth (they had English-speaking front desk people during the day), and when I mentioned I was heading to the baseball stadium, the guy actually drew me a little map showing the best route and where to grab a beer beforehand. Small touches like that make a difference. Breakfast was solid – mix of Western and Japanese options, nothing revolutionary but better than the convenience store alternative. I will say the lobby gets pretty busy during business hours since there are a lot of corporate travelers, but that dies down by evening. If you’re the type who needs a gym, theirs is decent but small – though with that spa upstairs, I honestly didn’t mind. The whole place just feels thoughtfully designed, like someone actually considered what travelers need rather than just checking boxes on an amenities list.

The location of this hotel is absolutely perfect, it is very close to the main shopping/restaurant area in Hiroshima, however the hotel itself is very quiet and tucked away. The reception area is lovely with floor length glass windows providing wonderful views. The staff were very friendly and welcoming and our room was even ready early, which...

Location was great, in the heart of the city. Room was fantastic with a comfortable bed and TV that you can stream from. Access to the bathing facilities was a nice surprise and makes relaxing that much better. Didn't even use the shower in the room. Breakfast was also great and well worth the extra.
