The Singular Santiago

HOTEL OVERVIEW

You know what strikes you first about The Singular Santiago? It’s not trying too hard to impress you – which honestly makes it even more impressive. This place sits right on Merced Street in the heart of Santiago Centro, and I mean really in the heart of it. You can walk to Plaza de Armas in about five minutes, but here’s the thing – the hotel feels like this quiet, sophisticated bubble despite being surrounded by all the urban energy.

The building itself has this understated elegance that feels very Santiago to me. It’s not flashy like some of those glass tower hotels you see sprouting up everywhere, but rather something that fits naturally into the neighborhood’s rhythm. The rooms are what I’d call thoughtfully designed – you’ve got these high ceilings that make everything feel spacious, and the windows actually open (which sounds basic but you’d be surprised how many fancy hotels seal you in). The staff genuinely seems to know what they’re doing too, not just going through the motions. I noticed they remember your preferences after like, one conversation, which is rare these days.

What really sets this place apart though is how it connects you to Santiago without overwhelming you. You’re walking distance from Cerro Santa Lucia – actually, you can see it from some of the rooms – and the whole Lastarria neighborhood is right there when you want that artsy, café-hopping vibe. But when the city gets a bit much (and Santiago can definitely get intense with all the traffic and noise), you retreat back to The Singular and it’s like stepping into this calm, refined space. The restaurant serves proper Chilean cuisine too, not the watered-down international stuff that most hotel restaurants default to. I mean, if you’re going to be in Santiago, you might as well eat like you’re in Santiago, right? The 9.1 rating makes total sense when you experience how all these little details come together – it’s not about one spectacular thing, but rather how everything just works seamlessly.

We stayed for 10 lovely days and recommend a deluxe room with balcony. We were in 606 and it had a beautiful view of San Crystalobel.

The hotel has a great location in Lastarria and a very fine restaurant on the room top as well as comfortable and well appointed rooms, but what males it special are the staff, especially the front desk and concierge staff. This is what staying in a top class hotel should be like. All of the staff were excellent and really made our trip to Santiago exceptional. This was our second stay and I can’t wait to go back. Highly recommended.

The breakfast was delicious! Staff are always very friendly and go the extra mile for my mother!

What could be improved: Food option at the bar and restaurant. It would be amazing if they expand their food options.

Beautiful, stylish and comfortable hotel for a spot of luxury after 2 weeks travelling around Chile. The room was spacious and equipped with everything we needed, including an adapter plug which was a nice touch. The staff throughout the hotel were exceptional. We used the rooftop pool area/bar which was a relaxing suntrap, and also ate in the rooftop restaurant (due to it being a public holiday, so not a lot of other places were open for dinner). The dinner and breakfast the following morning were of a high quality. It’s also in a great location - we loved the Barrio Lasterria.

What could be improved: Nothing to dislike! Maybe the spa area could have had a jacuzzi (but this is being really picky!)
