HOTEL OVERVIEW

So I’ve stayed at the Natalino Hotel Patagonia a couple times now, and honestly, it’s one of those places that just gets Puerto Natales right. You know how some hotels feel like they could be anywhere? This isn’t one of them. Walking up to the entrance on Eberhard Street, you immediately get that this place understands where it sits – there’s something about the way they’ve built it that feels respectful of the Patagonian landscape without trying too hard to be rustic.

The location is actually pretty perfect if you know Puerto Natales at all. Eberhard is basically the main drag where things happen, so you’re walking distance from the good restaurants (and trust me, you’ll want to try a few beyond the hotel dining) and that little waterfront area where locals hang out in the evenings. I mean, you’re also close enough to hear some street noise during the day, but it dies down at night – and honestly, after a day of Torres del Paine hiking, you’ll sleep through anything anyway. The staff really knows their stuff about the national park logistics, which matters more than you might think. They’ll actually give you realistic timelines for the bus connections and boat schedules, not just hand you a brochure.

What surprised me most was how the place handles the shoulder seasons – you know, those weird months when Patagonian weather can’t decide what it wants to do. The heating works properly (sounds basic, but you’d be shocked how many places here struggle with that), and there’s this nice common area where you end up chatting with other travelers who are dealing with the same unpredictable weather delays. The rooms themselves are solid – nothing fancy, but the beds are actually comfortable and the bathrooms have decent water pressure, which feels like a luxury after camping. I will say the WiFi can be spotty during peak evening hours when everyone’s uploading their Torres del Paine photos, but that’s pretty standard for this part of Chile. The breakfast spread is better than most places in town, though don’t expect anything too elaborate – it’s more about having good coffee and enough fuel to get you started on whatever adventure you’re planning. What I really appreciate is that they don’t oversell what they are. It’s a comfortable, well-run place that understands its role as base camp for one of the most incredible national parks in the world, and they do that job really well.

Breakfast, shower pressure, room and staff

What could be improved: The only improvement could be the temperature of the indoor pool. It was not warm enough, considering we stayed in the hotel in autumn.

Overall we loved this place and highly recommend it… but there were some issues that need improvement….the Wifi, one of the front desk people, and the breakfast buffet.

We stayed here 5 nights and had one of their suites…which had a good sized living room with a couch and large desk/working area with shelves. Bedroom was good size and the bed was VERY comfortable. And the bathroom was spacious.

Most of the staff was very helpful (one in particular who was there most of the time but I cannot recall her name was super helpful, spoke good English), but Nico, who was handling the front desk when we arrived (actually he was not at the front desk, and there is no bell… and about 10 minutes of waiting another staff person saw us and yelled for Nico), was horrendous and did not speak or understand much in English.

The hotel is in a great location as its within a block of the main street, restaurants and shops all over the place . Probably is the best choice in town.

There is free parking down the street (but a little hard to find the lot if the gate is open blocking the hotel parking sign)

While there were issues with the buffet, WiFi and one front desk person, the buffet staff not replenishing the buffet quick enough, and wifi (probably need a repeater) can be fixed and even with those issues we really loved the place and very happy we stayed there.

i would definitely recommend staying here

What could be improved: the Wifi, one of the front desk people, and the breakfast buffet.

Wifi however was not great. Only got decent service in the living room, and practically nothing in the bedroom (bummer at night when you want to read in bed on your iPad. The Wifi would also go in and out (lose the connection) every so often…sometimes every 15 min or so.

Breakfast buffet was decent (lots of cold meats, cheeses…if they had refilled the trays but only one hot item…scrambled eggs and not a very big assortment of pastries (basically chocolate chip cookie…if there were any left). Biggest issue was the buffet was not replenished quickly . One morning we got there at 9 and almost everything was gone ( 7 or 8 trays of meats and cheeses were empty, and 15 min later , when we were done and leaving, they finally refilled them). And one morning we got there around 6:30, only one other couple was there, and same thing. Most items were empty or not put out yet. And some items were still not refilled (or put out) 15 min later when we left.

Another issue had to do with Nico, one of the front desk staff. ..where we had…issues with the check in and poor instructions and directions to find the hotel parking lot wasting 40 minutes of our time searching for the lot, failing to mention, or give us the remote to get into the parking area,. As for the check-in, Nico did not really understand that we were there for 5 nights (the first reservation being for 1 night and a second for 4 nights…. for the same room.) Nico still thought we were staying 1 night. Then I had him look up the second reservation for the 4 nights. He said we would have to check out and check back in for the 4 nights. He argued with me about this and could the note in our file about the two reservations being tied together. Only after I pulled up the chat conversation with reservations did he finally relent …although I don’t think he ever understood. And I figured I would sort it out in the morning with someone else.

Nice, clean, comfortable, good breakfast, nice people at the front desk. Location is great, there are plenty of delicious restaurants at walking distance.

What could be improved: Rooms are really small but it worked for us. We struggled to get a table setup for us at breakfast. Parking not on site and not well marked.

Ellen from United States (31 January 2025)

Perfect location, modern hotel, decent breakfast. Terrific staff. Good Bed.

What could be improved: Room is on the small side. No refrigerator. Pool is small and cold. The heated part is the room not the pool.
