The location on Camino Lo Barnechea puts you right in the heart of Valle Nevado’s ski area, which if you’ve never been to Chilean ski resorts, is a completely different vibe from the Alps or Colorado. It’s this high-altitude wonderland about 90 minutes from Santiago, and the snow conditions are actually incredible during their winter season (June through September, which still feels backwards to me). The apartamento itself has that practical mountain lodge feel – nothing too fancy, but everything you need is there. The kitchenette is surprisingly well-equipped, which matters more than you’d think when you’re dealing with altitude and want to make your own coffee at 6 AM before hitting the slopes. The views from the windows are honestly stunning – you’re looking out at these massive Andean peaks that make you feel pretty small in the best way possible.

What really won me over though was the little details that show someone actually thought about what skiers need. There’s proper boot storage that doesn’t track snow all over the place, decent heating that keeps up with the mountain cold, and the beds are actually comfortable (not always a given in ski lodges, honestly). The whole building has this quiet, well-maintained feel – you’re not dealing with paper-thin walls or slamming doors at all hours. Check-in was straightforward, and the staff clearly knows the mountain well enough to give you real advice about conditions and timing. During peak season it can get pretty busy around the lifts, but being right there means you can duck back to the room for lunch or a quick warm-up without losing half your day. I’d definitely stay here again, especially if you’re planning to spend serious time on the mountain rather than just doing the tourist thing in Santiago.
