The staff seems to genuinely know the area too – not just the obvious tourist stuff, but like, where to see the best sunset spots that aren’t crawling with tour buses, or which local restaurants are actually worth the drive.

And speaking of location, you’re perfectly positioned here for exploring the Peninsula without dealing with the chaos of staying right in the main tourist zones. Port Arthur’s about a twenty-minute drive, but you’re also close enough to some of those incredible secluded beaches that most visitors never find. I spent one morning just walking the coastal track that starts basically from the hotel property – honestly, some of the most dramatic coastline I’ve seen anywhere in Tassie. The breakfast situation is solid too (they source locally, which you can actually taste), and parking is completely stress-free, which matters more than people realize when you’re hauling luggage and trying to start a vacation on the right foot. I’ll be honest, the price point reflects the quality – this isn’t a budget option – but if you’re looking for that sweet spot where everything just works without feeling overly fussy or pretentious, Windhover really delivers. Plus, that 9.2 rating isn’t just marketing fluff; you can feel it in all the small details they’ve gotten right.
