It’s about a five-minute stroll into central Taupo if you want the cafes and restaurants, but far enough out that you’re not dealing with the summer crowds stumbling past your window at midnight. The spa pool situation is honestly the star here – there’s something pretty magical about soaking in hot water while looking out over Lake Taupo, especially if you time it right around sunset. Pro tip: the jets are actually decent quality, not those pathetic things you usually get in holiday rentals.
