HOTEL OVERVIEW
Honestly, when I first pulled up to Lansdown Peaks Apartments on that quiet stretch of Lansdown Street, I wasn’t expecting much – you know how apartment-style places can be hit or miss. But walking into the lobby, there’s this immediate sense that someone actually cares about this place. The whole building has this modern mountain vibe that somehow doesn’t feel forced or fake, which is refreshing in Wanaka where half the accommodations are trying too hard to be “alpine chic.”
What really got me was the apartment itself – and I mean, these aren’t your typical cramped hotel rooms with a mini-fridge shoved in the corner. We’re talking proper kitchens with decent-sized fridges (crucial when you’re staying more than a night and want to grab groceries from New World down the road), separate living areas where you can actually spread out, and bedrooms that don’t make you feel like you’re sleeping in a closet. The balcony view toward the lake… well, let’s just say I spent way more time out there with my morning coffee than I’d planned. You can see the water through the trees, and on clear days – which, honestly, Wanaka delivers more often than you’d expect – the mountains just sort of frame everything perfectly.
The location is actually brilliant in that understated way that locals appreciate. You’re close enough to the town center that you can walk to Botswana Butchery or catch the cinema, but far enough up Lansdown that you’re not dealing with the weekend crowds stumbling past your window at 2am (trust me on this one – I’ve stayed closer to the main strip and regretted it). Parking isn’t the nightmare it can be in some parts of town, which matters more than you think when you’re hauling ski gear or hiking packs. The staff seem to know their stuff too – not just the scripted tourist information, but actual useful details like which hiking tracks are worth your time and where to get decent takeaway when you can’t be bothered cooking in that nice kitchen they’ve given you. I left thinking this place gets what travelers actually want: space to breathe, genuine comfort without the pretense, and a base that doesn’t fight with Wanaka’s natural beauty but somehow enhances it.

I loved the cosy bedroom and adjoining ensuite and walk in robe. Plenty of room to store suitcases and bags. The spa bath was a really nice addition. Bed was very comfy!

Spacious, comfortable bed, amenities, and location.
We had an internet issue and the property manager was very responsive and resolved the problem.
What could be improved: Screens on the patio doors would be great. It got warm and bugs got in through open patio doors. Bedroom windows do have screens

Easy walking distance into Wānaka and to the lakeside. Well equipped kitchen and the beds were also very comfortable. Really appreciated being able to extend our check out time a little later (as we were tackling Roy’s peak for sunrise that morning!) We had a great 3 days here as our base for exploring Wānaka, thank you.
