HOTEL OVERVIEW

You know what struck me first about this place? It’s actually called “Oceanside Apartment with Garden Views,” and honestly, both parts of that name deliver – which is rarer than you’d think with accommodation names. I mean, you’re literally steps from Marine Parade, which runs right along Mount Maunganui’s main beach, but what really caught me off guard was how the garden views from the back windows give you this unexpected pocket of green calm when you need a break from all that ocean energy.

The location is pretty brilliant if you know the Mount at all. Being on Marine Parade means you’re in the thick of things – I could hear the early morning joggers and the weekend market setup from my window – but it’s far enough from the main Pilot Bay action that you’re not dealing with the late-night party crowd. The apartment itself feels properly lived-in rather than sterile hotel-room clean, which I actually prefer. There’s decent kitchen gear (the coffee machine works well, always my first test), and the shower pressure is solid. Parking was straightforward too, though I’d probably avoid arriving during peak summer weekends when half of Auckland seems to descend on the place.

What really makes this spot work is how it sits in Mount Maunganui’s rhythm. You can walk to Bayfair shopping center if you need proper groceries, or just wander down to the beachfront cafes for your morning flat white. The Mount itself – that iconic hill everyone climbs – is close enough that you’ll probably guilt yourself into doing the walk at least once (it’s worth it, especially at sunrise when the light hits the harbor). The 8.7 rating feels about right; it’s not going to blow your mind with luxury touches, but everything works, the beds are comfortable, and there’s something genuinely relaxing about having those garden views to look at when the beach gets too intense. If you’re planning to stay during the summer madness, book early – places like this that balance location with actual livability fill up fast when Kiwis start planning their beach holidays.

Fantastic location and the pool and spa were amazing. Apartment is spacious and well appointed. Beds were very comfortable.

What could be improved: Unfortunately there was construction work going on in the nextdoor apartment, tradies were arriving at 6.30am so you were woken early with doors slamming and then power tools. We also found the vents in the bathrooms make a loud banging noise during high winds, woke both myself and the kids up at 2am on the last night.

Very roomy living space and large family friendly kitchen. A bit dated and old in bathrooms and oldest dishwasher I have seen that worked. But had new carpet and comfortable furniture and good smart tv.. Very comfy beds, lots of wardrobe space and clean and tidy. We liked our stay very much.

What could be improved: Shame that work being done around outside and so path to pool was a bit treacherous and possibly not ideal if had small children. Carpark also had an awkwardly placed pillar. A large car would be tricky to park.
