Chowara beach is this beautiful, relatively untouched stretch where you’ll see local fishermen pulling in their nets in the morning (amazing photo ops if you’re into that), but it’s still easy enough to hop over to Kovalam town when you want restaurants or shopping. The auto-rickshaw drivers all know the place, and it’s maybe 200 rupees to get to the main Kovalam strip. Parking’s never an issue if you’ve rented a car – actually, I’d recommend driving down the coastal road at least once, especially toward Poovar. The resort’s restaurant does solid Kerala cuisine, though I’ll be honest, you’ll want to venture out for dinner sometimes just for variety. The staff genuinely seemed happy to help with local recommendations, not just pushing expensive tours. One thing to know – this isn’t a party spot at all. If you’re looking for nightlife, you’re in the wrong place. But if you want to actually relax, hear the waves at night, and maybe do some proper Ayurvedic treatments without the tourist circus, it hits that sweet spot.
