Adamo the Resort

You know what? Adamo the Resort caught me off guard in the best way possible. I’ll be honest – when I first saw it sitting right on M.G Road across from the Jain Temple, I wasn’t expecting much from a 3-star place. But there’s something genuinely charming about this spot that the rating doesn’t quite capture.

The location is actually pretty smart if you know Matheran at all. Being in Bazaar Peth means you’re walking distance from basically everything that matters – the main market, the toy train station, and honestly, most of the viewpoints are just a pleasant stroll away. I mean, Matheran’s tiny anyway, but staying here means you’re not lugging your bags up some crazy hill like at some of the other properties. The fact that it’s opposite the Jain Temple is kind of nice too; there’s this peaceful morning vibe when you step outside, especially before the day-trippers arrive on the toy train around 10 AM.

What I really appreciated was how the staff seemed to actually know the area – not just the touristy stuff everyone tells you about. The guy at reception (I think his name was Raj?) told me about this lesser-known sunset spot that’s way less crowded than Sunset Point, and he was absolutely right. The rooms themselves are clean and comfortable enough, though don’t expect luxury – it’s more like staying at a well-maintained family guesthouse. The walls are a bit thin, so you’ll hear people in the hallways, but honestly, Matheran shuts down pretty early anyway, so it’s not really an issue. I loved that they had this little courtyard area where you could sit with chai in the evenings – there’s something about the hill station air that just makes everything taste better. The restaurant serves decent Maharashtrian food (their misal pav is surprisingly good), and while it’s not going to blow your mind, it hits the spot after a day of walking around. Plus, being right on the main road means you’ve got plenty of other food options within literally two minutes if you want to explore.
