Alagoa Resort Overview
So I’ll be honest – when I first pulled up to Alagoa Resort, I wasn’t expecting much from a 3-star place tucked away on this quiet lane in Betalbatim. The area’s got that sleepy village vibe that’s actually pretty refreshing if you’re coming from the madness of Calangute or Baga. Ranvaddo is one of those narrow Goan roads where you’ll pass toddy shops and local houses with their red-tiled roofs, and honestly, it feels more authentic than the tourist strips further north.
The resort itself sits in this surprisingly peaceful pocket – you know how some places claim to be quiet but you can still hear scooters honking at 6 AM? Well, here you actually get proper quiet, especially in the evenings when the only sounds are those fruit bats rustling in the palm trees. The rooms are what you’d expect for the price point, nothing fancy but clean and functional. I mean, the AC works well (crucial in Goa’s humidity), and the bathrooms are decent sized. What I really appreciated was how the staff – mostly locals from the area – genuinely seemed to care about making your stay comfortable rather than just going through the motions.
Here’s the thing about Betalbatim that most people don’t realize: you’re actually in a pretty sweet spot. The beach is maybe a 10-minute walk through some local neighborhoods, and it’s one of those stretches where you’ll find more fishermen than tourists, which I loved. The sand’s clean, the waves are gentle, and there’s usually this nice breeze in the late afternoon. If you want the party scene, Colva’s just a short rickshaw ride away, but honestly, after a day of exploring, coming back to this quieter corner felt perfect. The resort has this small pool area where I’d see families with kids splashing around during the day, and the little restaurant serves up some surprisingly good Goan fish curry – not restaurant-quality, but the kind of homestyle cooking that hits the spot after a beach day. Parking’s never an issue here, which is actually a bigger deal than you’d think in Goa. The 6.9 rating makes sense to me – it’s not going to blow you away, but it does what it promises without any major disappointments. Just don’t expect 24/7 room service or a spa; this is more about having a comfortable base to explore South Goa’s quieter charms.

amazing place inside the nature
Location slightly remote from market area. breakfast have limited choices
Very nice stay with all necessary comfort. We had a nice deal with a bathtub and breakfast included. The compound includes a separate venue with a restaurant and a pool. We had a great dinner and breakfast. Helpful staff.
We were there for 3 nights. The location was good. 10 minutes to a beautiful beach with pristine sand.
The restaurant was very good with a great range of dishes on the menu.
The staff were very attentive, polite and helpful
The location of the resort is very good. The food is amazing. Their eco huts are good to stay
Nature
Basicly a very nice place, if staff was more helpful and the premises was looked after a lot better (stayed in the old, big house, can not answer for the bungalows across the road, which seems to be a lot newer). Fantastic view over lake. Good...
