HOTEL OVERVIEW

You know what hits you first at Blackberry Hills? It’s not the lobby or the fancy entrance – it’s that mountain air when you step out of your car on Bison Valley Road. I mean, you’re literally up in the Kanan Devan Hills here, and the difference from Munnar town is immediate. The resort sits tucked into this hillside where tea plantations just roll on forever, and honestly, the drive up alone makes you feel like you’ve escaped something.

The property itself – well, it’s got that 5-star polish without feeling stuffy about it. The rooms are spacious (thank god, because some Munnar hotels can be pretty cramped), and they’ve actually thought about the view from every window. I stayed during monsoon season last year and even with the mist rolling in and out, you could catch glimpses of the tea gardens stretching toward Anamudi peak. The spa’s genuinely good too – not just some afterthought wellness center, but proper Ayurvedic treatments that locals actually recommend. The therapist I had mentioned she’d been working in Munnar for over a decade, and you could tell the difference.

What really works here is the location situation. You’re far enough from the main Munnar chaos (especially that Old Munnar Road traffic mess) but close enough that you’re not stuck. The Eravikulam National Park entrance is maybe 20 minutes if you time it right, and you can actually walk to some decent tea estate viewpoints without getting in a car. The restaurant staff know their stuff about local cuisine too – they do this appam and stew combo that’s better than most places in town, and the Kerala fish curry actually has proper spicing. Parking’s no issue, which sounds minor until you’ve tried finding a spot in central Munnar during peak season. The only thing that might bug some people is the evening fog – it can get pretty thick up here, and if you’re hoping for sunset views every night, well, the weather doesn’t always cooperate. But honestly? That misty, mysterious vibe is half the charm of staying up in these hills anyway.

The restaurant view was heavenly. The food was excellent and the staff was very friendly. The best thing about the resort is their concerted and sincere effort to be eco friendly. This is the best hotel we have ever been to in terms of eco-frienliness.

We loved our stay here. Lovely resort away from the bustle of munnar town but only a ten min tuk tuk ride away. The rooms were lovely, nice comfy large bed, and good shower . The staff were all very friendly and helpful and nothing was too much trouble . We ate in the restaurant both nights and the food was excellent . We were there for New Year’s Eve and they put on a lovely banquet and live music. We enjoyed the tea tasting and a morning yoga session. Make sure you ask about the Shola Tour, which is just an hour’s hike around the local area, got to see the tea pickers working and amazing views. I loved the fact they are trying hard to be eco so they don’t give you plastic water bottles and the lovely herbal shampoo and body toner were provided in small earthenware pots , not plastic. So refreshing! Don’t hesitate it’s a great place to stay!

The location of the property is great. The views from the room were awesome. It was very serene. The staff were exceptionally nice. The property is in a very steep hill & so the experience of walking up & down the property was very nice. They do have golf kart transportation. Food was great. Overall a lovely time.
