Blue Ocean Hotel&Resort MIYAKOJIMA Overview
Look, I’ve stayed at a lot of places across Okinawa, but this Blue Ocean spot on Miyako Island? It actually lives up to that 9.6 rating – and honestly, I’m usually pretty skeptical of those numbers. The thing is, you’re way out on Irabu Island (which technically connects to the main Miyako Island now via that massive bridge they built), so it feels properly isolated without being inconvenient. When you pull up to the property, there’s this moment where you realize you’re looking at some of the clearest water you’ll ever see, and I mean that – the Miyako Blue they talk about isn’t tourist board nonsense.
The resort itself has this understated luxury thing going on that works really well. None of that over-the-top marble and gold stuff you sometimes get with five-star places. Instead, it’s all about those floor-to-ceiling windows and how they’ve positioned everything to maximize the ocean views. You know what impressed me most? The sound insulation is incredible – even during the busy winter months when Japanese families descend on Miyako, your room stays quiet. The staff actually remembers your name and preferences, which sounds small but makes a huge difference when you’re there for more than a couple nights. Check-in was smooth (they have valet parking, thank god, because navigating rental cars around here can be tricky), and they gave us this whole rundown of the best beaches and diving spots that weren’t just the obvious tourist traps.
What really sets this place apart is the location – you’re close enough to hit up spots like Yonaha Maehama Beach, which is legitimately one of the world’s best beaches, but you’re also positioned perfectly for the more secluded spots on Irabu. The resort’s private beach area is small but never feels crowded, and the water is so clear you can see tropical fish just wading in knee-deep. I mean, the whole southern coast of Miyako is gorgeous, but being on Irabu gives you this sense of having discovered something special. The restaurant scene at the hotel is solid too – they do this amazing take on Okinawan cuisine mixed with more international options, and the breakfast spread actually includes local specialties alongside the usual hotel fare. Fair warning though: if you’re planning to explore the main island much, factor in the drive time across the bridge. It’s beautiful but adds 20-30 minutes to get anywhere central. Still, for pure relaxation and that incredible Miyako water, I’d absolutely stay here again. The price point reflects the quality, but when you’re talking about this level of service and that view, it’s worth it.

Very friendly and helpful staffs.
What could be improved: although they throw in top-notch appliances (bathtub, sinks, and furnitures), some design just doesn’t make sense and make the space very crowded even its a big room.
