You know what caught me off guard about Bundelkhand Riverside? It’s actually right there on Kothi Ghat, which means you’re literally steps away from the Betwa River – and I mean literally, not the way everyone throws that word around these days. When I first walked out onto their little terrace area in the morning, there were local fishermen already out on the water, and you could hear the gentle lapping against the ghats mixed with temple bells from across the river. It’s one of those moments where you remember why you travel in the first place.

The hotel itself is pretty straightforward – this is a solid 3-star place that knows exactly what it is and doesn’t try to be anything fancier. The rooms are clean and comfortable enough (though honestly, the AC can be a bit temperamental during peak summer months), but the real draw here is the location and the fact that the staff actually seems to care about Orchha. The guy at reception – I think his name was Rajesh – knew all these little details about the best times to visit the cenotaphs when the light hits just right, and he steered me away from the touristy restaurants toward this tiny place that serves incredible dal bafla. That’s the kind of local knowledge you can’t get from a guidebook or Google review.

What really makes this place work is how it sits in the whole Orchha experience. You’re close enough to walk to Raj Mahal and the other palace complexes, but you’re also right where the town actually lives and breathes along the river. I spent a couple evenings just watching life happen from the ghat – kids playing cricket, women doing laundry, the occasional tourist boat puttering by. The 7.5 rating feels about right, actually – it’s not going to blow your mind with luxury, but it gets the fundamentals right and puts you exactly where you want to be. Plus, parking is easy (which matters more than you’d think in these heritage towns), and the morning chai they bring to your room while you’re watching the sunrise over the Betwa? Well, that’s worth the price of admission right there.
