You know what? I was honestly skeptical about the whole “all-inclusive” thing in the Keys – I mean, this isn’t exactly Cancun – but Bungalows Key Largo actually nailed it. The place sits right on the bayside at Mile Marker 99, and when I say right on the water, I mean you can literally hear the gentle lapping against the docks from your room. It’s that perfect spot where you’re still close enough to the main drag for convenience (there’s a Publix maybe five minutes up the road), but far enough from the craziness that you actually feel like you’ve escaped somewhere.

The bungalows themselves are spread out in this really thoughtful way – honestly, it feels more like staying at a friend’s beach house than a typical hotel. Each one has this Key West-meets-modern vibe going on, with those classic tin roofs but updated everything inside. The air conditioning actually works (trust me, this matters in South Florida), and the beds are genuinely comfortable, not that weird hotel-firm thing you usually get. What really got me was the attention to the little stuff – like, they’ve got these outdoor showers that somehow manage to feel private even though you’re basically outside, and the kitchenettes are stocked with actual useful things, not just a sad coffee maker and plastic cups. The all-inclusive part covers your meals at their waterfront restaurant, and I’ll be honest, I was expecting typical resort food, but the seafood is legit fresh. They’re pulling grouper and snapper that was probably swimming yesterday, and the conch fritters? Actually crispy, not those soggy things you get at tourist traps.

But here’s the thing that really sets this place apart – the whole vibe is just… relaxed in a way that’s hard to fake. Maybe it’s because Key Largo itself moves at a different pace (you’ll figure this out quickly when you’re stuck behind a golf cart on the highway), but the staff genuinely seems to get that people come here to decompress. They’re not constantly trying to sell you excursions or upsell your room – though if you want to book a dive trip or fishing charter, they’ve got solid connections. The pool area gets busy around 2 PM when everyone’s back from morning activities, but mornings and evenings it’s perfect for just floating around with a book. And honestly? The sunsets from the dock are ridiculous – like, almost annoyingly beautiful because you’ll end up taking way too many photos. Parking is easy (it’s right there, no hunting around), check-in was smooth, and the Wi-Fi actually works if you need to pretend you’re working. The only minor thing is that rooms facing the highway can get a bit of road noise, but honestly, once you’re asleep it doesn’t matter. This is the kind of place where you show up stressed from Miami traffic and leave wondering why you don’t live in the Keys year-round.
