The pool’s a decent size too, not one of those tiny plunge things that’s more for show than actual swimming. Though honestly, unless you’re visiting in peak summer (December through February), you’ll probably stick to the heated jacuzzi – the mornings can be surprisingly crisp even when the days warm up nicely.

The villa itself feels like someone’s actual home rather than a sterile rental, which makes sense given that 9.2 rating. There’s proper space to spread out, and the kitchen’s actually equipped for cooking real meals – you’ll want to stock up in Wanaka before heading up, since the closest decent grocery run is about 20 minutes back toward town. Parking’s right there (no trudging with luggage), and check-in was refreshingly straightforward. The location’s brilliant if you’re planning to hit Cardrona Alpine Resort – you’re literally five minutes from the ski field access road, which is gold during winter season when accommodation closer to the slopes gets absolutely hammered with bookings. But here’s the thing most people don’t realize: this spot’s actually better in the shoulder seasons. Spring and autumn in Cardrona Valley are gorgeous, with fewer crowds and those dramatic sky changes you get in mountain country. Plus, you’ll have the roads mostly to yourself for exploring the back valleys or heading over Crown Range to Queenstown – that drive’s spectacular but can be a nightmare during peak tourist season. The villa gives you this perfect base where you can actually relax properly between adventures, rather than just crash somewhere generic.
