Coronado Island Marriott Resort & Spa Overview
First Impressions
Walking into the Coronado Island Marriott Resort & Spa, you’re immediately struck by how the lobby opens up to reveal glimpses of the Pacific beyond. This four-star resort sits right on the island’s quieter bay side, which honestly works in its favor — you get all the waterfront charm without the crowds that pack the Hotel del Coronado down the beach. The property feels substantial but not overwhelming, with that relaxed Southern California vibe that makes you want to slow down the moment you arrive.
Location & Setting
The location is genuinely special, and I mean that — Coronado Island itself is this little slice of perfection just across the bay from downtown San Diego. You’re technically on an island (well, peninsula, but who’s counting), connected by the iconic Coronado Bridge, which creates this sense of escape even though you’re minutes from the city. The resort faces the bay rather than the ocean, so you get these gorgeous views of the San Diego skyline, especially at sunset when the whole downtown lights up across the water. It’s actually quite romantic, which explains why couples rate this place so highly.
The Room Experience
The room I stayed in had a bay view that made me understand why people pay extra for waterfront accommodations. The decor is contemporary Marriott — clean lines, neutral tones, nothing too bold but comfortable and well-maintained. What I appreciated was the balcony space; you can actually sit out there with your morning coffee and watch the boats drift by. The beds are those signature Marriott pillowy affairs that somehow manage to be both soft and supportive, and the bathrooms are spacious with good water pressure (trust me, these details matter after a long day exploring).
Dining & Amenities
The restaurant situation here is solid — Albaca serves up California coastal cuisine that doesn’t try too hard but delivers on flavor. I had their fish tacos one evening, and they were honestly better than some I’ve had at dedicated taco spots in the area. The spa is where this place really shines though; it’s not huge, but the treatments incorporate local elements and the relaxation areas have those same stunning bay views. The pool area feels like a proper resort setup — multiple levels, cabanas if you want privacy, and enough space that it never feels cramped even when busy.
Why Guests Love It
What makes this resort work is how it balances accessibility with that getaway feeling. You can walk to Coronado Beach in about ten minutes, bike around the island’s tree-lined streets, or just stay put and enjoy the waterfront setting. The staff seems to genuinely care about your experience — not in that overly scripted way, but with real helpfulness when you need directions or recommendations. For couples especially, there’s something about watching the San Diego skyline from your balcony while sipping wine that just works. It’s not trying to be the flashiest place on the island, but sometimes that’s exactly what you want.

Location
Beautiful location! It's relatively close to downtown (you have to cross the bridge, but then you're right there), the pool was amazing, the staff was friendly, and all necessary things were well within reach. Just a short walk from an outlet area...
I loved the pool, the view, the comfort of the room, super clean, nice helpful staff. The deserts and sides were good.
I had a view of the bay from the third floor and it was beautiful. I enjoyed sitting on the balcony and seeing downtown across the bay. The staff were friendly and helpful. The room was quiet and the grounds were beautiful and well maintained. Also...

The complex
the size of the room; the bed was comfy; the nearby restaurants; enjoyed the ferry rides across to ball game and Little Italy; the location was great; would like to know more about the cottages - is there a pool for adults?
Loved the breakfast. Location and bay view were great.
