The Departamento Grande sits in the Velas del Norte building – and yeah, that name actually makes sense once you’re standing on the balcony looking north along the coastline.

This is a proper four-star setup that actually delivers on the promise. The apartment itself is genuinely spacious (hence the “Grande” I suppose), with four bedrooms that don’t feel like afterthoughts and three full bathrooms – which, trust me, matters when you’re traveling with a group or family. The two parking spots are clutch because finding parking anywhere near the Algarrobo coast during summer can be absolutely brutal. What I really appreciated was how the place feels lived-in rather than sterile – you get the sense that the owners actually use this space and care about the details. The kitchen is properly equipped, not just the bare minimum you usually get in vacation rentals.

But here’s the thing that makes this spot special – it’s the location within San Alfonso del Mar itself. You’re not just staying near that famous endless pool; you’re literally part of the complex. Walking from the apartment to different sections of the pool feels like exploring some kind of aquatic city. The northern section tends to be quieter, which is perfect if you want to actually swim rather than just float around with the crowds. Early mornings are magical here – around 7 AM you’ll have stretches of crystal-clear water almost to yourself, with the Andes visible in the distance on clear days. The beach access is real too, not just marketing speak. There’s actual sand, actual waves, and during weekdays especially, plenty of space to spread out. I’d say the 9.3 rating reflects what you actually experience – everything works as advertised, the views are genuinely spectacular, and the staff (when you need them) know what they’re doing. Just pack some groceries when you arrive because while there are restaurants in the complex, having that full kitchen means you can make your own schedule instead of being tied to meal times.
