You know what caught me off guard about Departamento Laguna Bahía? It’s actually way nicer than the photos suggest. I mean, I’ve stayed in plenty of beachfront places in Chile, but this spot on Avenida El Parque Norte has something different going on. The building sits right where you can see the lagoon stretching out toward the Pacific – honestly, it’s one of those views that makes you stop scrolling through your phone for a minute.

The apartment itself feels like someone’s well-loved vacation home rather than a sterile rental. The kitchen actually has everything you need (and I mean everything – proper knives, decent coffee maker, even wine glasses that aren’t plastic). What I really appreciated was how quiet it stays, even during the busy summer months when Algarrobo gets packed with Santiago families. The building’s set back just enough from the main beach drag that you’re not dealing with constant traffic noise, but you can still walk to the good seafood spots in like five minutes. Speaking of which – and this is local intel – skip the touristy restaurants right on the beach and head toward the residential streets where the families go. Way better empanadas de mariscos.

The whole setup here just works. Check-in was smooth (they actually answered their phone, which… you’d be surprised how rare that is), parking’s included which saves you the headache of hunting for spots during peak season, and the building’s got that solid, well-maintained vibe that makes you feel like you’re staying somewhere people actually care about. The 9.6 rating makes sense once you’re there – it’s not trying to be some luxury resort, but everything they do have is done right. The lagoon’s perfect for kayaking if you’re into that, or just floating around with a beer if you’re not. And honestly? Sometimes that’s exactly what you need.
