You know what surprised me most about Departamentos Mednav Montemar & Spa? It’s tucked right on Calle El Sol in Concón, but somehow it doesn’t feel like you’re staying in the middle of everything – which honestly is exactly what you want here. I mean, Concón can get pretty bustling, especially when the Santiago folks come down for weekends, but this place has this sort of calm bubble around it.

The apartments themselves are actually proper apartments, not those hotel rooms masquerading as suites that drive me crazy. When I walked into mine, there was this moment of “oh, someone actually lives like this” – you’ve got a real kitchen where you can make proper coffee (not just those sad little pods), and the living spaces feel like someone’s home, not a sterile hotel room. The spa part isn’t just thrown in as an afterthought either. I spent way too much time in there, honestly – they’ve got this treatment room that overlooks the coast, and you can actually hear the waves while you’re getting worked on. It’s one of those details that sounds cheesy when you read it online but actually works when you’re there.

What really sold me though was the location thing – and I don’t mean that in the generic “convenient location” way. You’re literally a few minutes’ walk from those dunes everyone comes to Concón for, but you’re also close enough to Viña del Mar that you can pop over for dinner without it being this whole production. The front desk guy (I think his name was Carlos?) actually gave me real recommendations, not the usual tourist trap stuff. He sent me to this little seafood spot that I never would’ve found otherwise – just locals and the kind of empanadas that ruin you for all other empanadas.

Parking’s straightforward, which matters more than you’d think in this area, and the building’s quiet enough that I could actually sleep with the windows open to hear the ocean. During the week it’s pretty peaceful, but weekends do pick up a bit – though nothing too crazy. The whole place just feels like someone put actual thought into how people want to stay somewhere, instead of checking boxes on some corporate checklist. With a 9.5 rating, I was expecting it to be good, but I wasn’t expecting it to feel this… comfortable, I guess. Like staying at a friend’s place, if your friend happened to have really good taste and lived five minutes from the beach.
