I mean, it’s got that 5-star designation and you can tell they take it seriously – the lobby’s got this nice marble thing going on, staff actually remembers your name after day one – but there’s something refreshingly unpretentious about the whole operation. The rooms are solid, nothing groundbreaking but properly comfortable with those big windows that frame the hill views really well. What I appreciated was the attention to details that matter when you’re actually staying somewhere: good water pressure (honestly a miracle in some hill stations), reliable WiFi, and – this might sound weird – but the curtains actually block out light properly so you can sleep in.

Here’s what you should know if you’re thinking about staying here: the restaurant’s better than it needs to be, especially for breakfast, and the location works really well as a base if you want to explore the area without committing to staying right in Shimla’s mall road chaos. Parking’s easy, which is honestly half the battle in the hills, and you’re close enough to decent hiking trails if that’s your thing.
