Look, I’ll be honest – when you first pull up to Deventure Shimla Hills on NH22, it doesn’t immediately scream “luxury resort.” The location is actually pretty smart though, sitting right on the main highway between Solan and Shimla in Kandaghat. You’re basically at this perfect midpoint where you can escape the chaos of lower elevations but you’re not dealing with the tourist madness that hits Shimla proper during peak season.

The thing that got me about this place is how they’ve managed to feel genuinely upscale without being stuffy about it. I mean, it’s got that 5-star designation and you can tell they take it seriously – the lobby’s got this nice marble thing going on, staff actually remembers your name after day one – but there’s something refreshingly unpretentious about the whole operation. The rooms are solid, nothing groundbreaking but properly comfortable with those big windows that frame the hill views really well. What I appreciated was the attention to details that matter when you’re actually staying somewhere: good water pressure (honestly a miracle in some hill stations), reliable WiFi, and – this might sound weird – but the curtains actually block out light properly so you can sleep in.

Here’s what you should know if you’re thinking about staying here: the restaurant’s better than it needs to be, especially for breakfast, and the location works really well as a base if you want to explore the area without committing to staying right in Shimla’s mall road chaos. The 7.3 rating feels about right – it’s not going to blow your mind, but it delivers on what it promises. Parking’s easy, which is honestly half the battle in the hills, and you’re close enough to decent hiking trails if that’s your thing. The staff seems to know the area well too, so they can point you toward the less touristy spots if you ask. I’d probably stay here again, especially during those shoulder months when the weather’s nice but the crowds haven’t descended yet.

Food was very good. Staff is good and cooperative. Location is excellent. Need improvement in room alongwith the facilities. Unfortunately, breakfast was not included which was pathetic in view of the richness demonstrated and accordingly food is very costly.
