Look, I’ll be honest – when I first pulled up to the DoubleTree on Kennedy Avenue, I wasn’t expecting much. I mean, it’s technically in Vitacura which sounds fancy, but this stretch of Presidente Kennedy can feel a bit… well, business-district sterile during the day. But you know what? Once you actually get inside, this place surprised me in the best way.

The thing about this hotel is that it sits right in this sweet spot where you’re close enough to Las Condes that you can walk to some seriously good restaurants (there’s this incredible sushi place called Osaka about ten minutes away), but far enough from the centro histórico chaos that you actually get some peace at night. The 8.7 rating makes total sense once you’ve stayed here – it’s one of those places that just works without trying too hard. The staff actually remembers your name after day two, which honestly doesn’t happen much in Santiago hotels. And okay, I have to mention the cookies because everyone does, but they really do hit different when you’re jet-lagged and stumbling through the lobby at 2 PM.

What really sold me though was how they handle the practical stuff that other places mess up. Parking is actually included and easy – none of this valet nonsense where you wait twenty minutes for your car. The rooms face either the mountains or the city, and if you can swing it, get one facing east because those Andes views in the morning light are something else. The neighborhood gets surprisingly quiet after business hours since it’s mostly offices and upscale residential, so you’re not dealing with street noise all night like you would staying closer to Providencia. I mean, sure, it’s not the most “authentic Chilean experience” since you’re in this pretty international area, but sometimes you just want reliable wifi, a decent shower, and to not worry about whether your Uber driver can find the place (they always can – Kennedy is basically Santiago’s main artery).

The pool area is actually usable year-round if you don’t mind it being a bit brisk in winter, and there’s this business center that’s open 24/7 which saved me when I needed to print boarding passes at midnight. It’s the kind of place where everything just… functions. You know those hotels where you spend half your stay figuring out how things work? This isn’t that. Plus, you’re literally fifteen minutes from the airport when traffic cooperates, which in Santiago means early morning or late evening. Just avoid leaving during rush hour unless you enjoy sitting in traffic for an hour watching the same Bip! bus ads.
