This five-star gem sits right on the south shore in Stateline, and when I say “on the shore,” I mean you’re literally steps from that impossibly blue water that makes Tahoe famous. The property sprawls along the lakefront where Highway 50 curves toward the casinos, but somehow it feels completely removed from all that chaos.

The rooms here are something else – I mean, they’ve got this mountain-lodge-meets-modern-luxury thing going on that actually works. Floor-to-ceiling windows frame the lake views (and trust me, you’ll want to spring for a lake-facing room because those sunrise views are ridiculous), while the interiors blend warm wood tones with crisp linens and stone accents. Honestly, the bathrooms alone are bigger than some hotel rooms I’ve stayed in, complete with soaking tubs that overlook the water. The staff has this laid-back professionalism that feels genuinely Tahoe – they know their stuff but won’t make you feel underdressed if you roll up in hiking boots.

What really sets this place apart is how they’ve woven themselves into the landscape. The championship golf course (you’ve probably seen it during celebrity tournaments) rolls right up to the lake’s edge, and even if you don’t golf, those fairways make for incredible evening strolls. The hotel restaurant – Edgewood Restaurant – sources locally and changes their menu with the seasons, which means you might get wild-caught salmon or locally foraged mushrooms depending on when you visit. Parking is complimentary (a blessing since some Tahoe spots charge a fortune), and they’ve got a spa that incorporates natural elements like lake stones and pine essences into their treatments. Summer gets pretty busy here since they host that big golf tournament in July, so expect more crowds and higher energy then. Winter’s the opposite – peaceful and cozy, especially when snow blankets the mountains across the lake. The only real downside? Once you experience Tahoe from this vantage point, other lake hotels might feel like compromises. But honestly, after watching the sun set over the Sierra Nevada from their lakefront terrace (with a craft cocktail in hand), that feels like a pretty good problem to have.
