Enjoy Puerto Varas

You know what struck me first about Enjoy Puerto Varas? It’s not trying too hard to be fancy, which honestly feels refreshing for a five-star place. Walking up to the entrance on Klenner Street, I was expecting something more imposing, but there’s this understated elegance that actually works better with Puerto Varas’ laid-back vibe. The location is pretty smart too – you’re close enough to walk down to the lakefront without being right in the thick of all the tour group chaos that happens around the main plaza. Plus, if you’re planning any day trips to the Petrohué Falls or want to catch that boat to Bariloche, you’re not fighting through downtown traffic to get started.

The rooms themselves have this sort of modern-meets-cozy thing going on, and I mean that in a good way. Large windows – which you’ll appreciate if you score a lake view – and the beds are actually comfortable (I’m picky about this stuff). What I really liked was how quiet it gets at night; Klenner isn’t one of those streets where you’ll hear cars or late-night revelers, so you can actually sleep with the windows cracked open. The staff genuinely seems to know the area well, not just the typical tourist spots. When I asked about hiking trails that weren’t completely overrun, the front desk guy gave me directions to this path near Cerro Philippi that I never would’ve found otherwise. Check-in was smooth – no unnecessary upselling or drawn-out presentations about amenities I didn’t need.

Here’s the thing though – that 7.8 rating makes sense when you consider this isn’t Santiago or a resort town prices. For Puerto Varas, it’s solid luxury without the pretension, but it’s not going to blow your mind if you’re used to staying at high-end places in bigger cities. The restaurant is decent (try the salmon if you’re into that), and there’s a nice little bar area that doesn’t feel hotel-generic. What really sold me was the attention to details that matter when you’re actually traveling – good water pressure, reliable wifi, and they helped arrange a rental car without the usual runaround. If you’re using Puerto Varas as your base for exploring the lake district, which most people do, this place gets the job done really well. It’s comfortable, the location works, and you’re not paying for a bunch of flashy extras you won’t use when you’re out hiking volcanoes or taking boat trips all day anyway.
