You know what hit me first when I rolled up to Evara Spa & Resort? The silence. I mean, Rāmnagar can get pretty chaotic with all the Jim Corbett traffic, but once you turn into Bhalaun village, it’s like someone just turned down the volume on the world. The resort sits tucked away from the main Corbett road – honestly, your GPS might get a little confused in those final turns through the village lanes, but that’s exactly why this place works so well.

The property itself is one of those rare finds where they actually earned that 5-star rating instead of just slapping it on the sign. Everything feels intentional here, from the way they’ve positioned the spa pavilions to catch the morning light to how the restaurant terrace overlooks these rolling hills that stretch toward the national park boundary. I stayed during monsoon season (which, let me tell you, is absolutely the move if you can handle a little humidity), and watching the mist roll through those valleys while sipping chai on their outdoor deck was honestly better than any meditation app I’ve tried. The staff – and this matters more than people realize – actually seem to know the area. Our server Rajesh grew up in Bhalaun and could tell you which trails in Corbett are best for different wildlife sightings, or where to find the good local dhaba if you want to venture out for authentic kumaoni food.

What really sets Evara apart, though, is how they’ve balanced that luxury resort feeling with genuine connection to the landscape. The spa treatments use herbs they grow on-site, and you can smell the lemongrass and mint in the evening air around the property. The rooms – well, they’re gorgeous obviously, but more importantly, they’re designed for the climate. Proper cross-ventilation, blackout curtains that actually work, and these deep soaking tubs that hit different after a day of safari dust. I appreciated small touches like having actual hangers in the closet (not those useless attached ones) and bathroom lighting that doesn’t make you look like a zombie at 6 AM. The pool area gets busy around sunset when day-trippers from other Corbett hotels sometimes stop by for drinks, but early morning swims are pure magic – just you, the water, and langur monkeys chattering in the sal trees overhead. Fair warning though: if you’re planning to visit during peak tiger season (November through February), book way ahead and expect higher rates. But honestly? That 9.2 rating isn’t tourist board marketing – it’s people who know good hospitality when they experience it.
