HOTEL OVERVIEW

Look, I’ve stayed at plenty of luxury resorts, but the Four Seasons at Ko Olina just hits different. First thing you notice pulling up Olani Street is how they’ve managed to tuck this place into the coastline without it feeling like some massive concrete fortress – which, honestly, is pretty rare for Hawaii developments these days. The whole Ko Olina area was basically built from scratch (it used to be pretty much nothing), but they’ve done it right.

What actually surprised me was how un-touristy it feels despite being on the resort side of the island. You’re about 20 minutes from the airport, which sounds close but you’d never know it – no plane noise, just the sound of waves hitting those four perfect lagoons Ko Olina is famous for. The beach situation here is genuinely special because the lagoons are protected, so the water stays calm even when the north shore is getting pounded with winter swells. I mean, you can actually swim without getting tumbled around, which isn’t always a given in Hawaii. The sand is that powdery white stuff they imported (yeah, it’s not natural, but who cares when it feels this good).

The resort itself feels like they actually thought about how people move through space. No endless maze-like hallways or confusing tower situations – just low-rise buildings that follow the natural curve of the coastline. Staff genuinely seems happy to be there, which makes a huge difference when you’re dropping this kind of money. Room-wise, even the basic ocean view rooms have these deep soaking tubs and private lanais where you can actually hear the waves. Pro tip: rooms ending in numbers 01-06 get the best sunset views, though honestly you’re not going to get a bad view anywhere.

Food scene is solid without being pretentious – the poolside spot does these fish tacos that are actually worth the resort markup, and you know that’s saying something. What I really appreciate is that they don’t try to keep you trapped on property. They’ll set you up with snorkel gear, give you real recommendations for local spots (not just the tourist traps), and the concierge actually knows the difference between Pipeline and Sunset Beach when you ask about surf spots to watch.

The pool area manages to feel spacious even when it’s busy – they’ve got this infinity setup that doesn’t feel like you’re swimming in a crowded fishbowl. Kids’ area is separate enough that you’re not dealing with constant splashing and screaming if that’s not your scene. Parking is complimentary (thank god, because resort parking fees are getting ridiculous), and they’ve got this nice setup where you can walk to the other Ko Olina hotels for dinner without needing to drive.

Is it expensive? Obviously. But here’s the thing – you’re getting that Four Seasons consistency where everything just works, combined with a location that gives you both the luxury resort experience and easy access to explore the real Oahu. Plus, being on the leeward side means you’re getting sunshine even when the windward side is cloudy and rainy, which happens more than people realize.

Enjoyed our 6 night stay. The staff was very accommodating and did their best to ensure we had a great experience. Property was beautifully maintained and offered a lot of food options, multiple pools, and a lovely beach area on the very calm bay. Cleaning and concierge staff were very warm and helpful. We were given lots of attention throughout our stay and offered many complimentary items throughout each day such as bottled water, extra Nespresso pods in our room, anniversary gifts for our wedding anniversary and a beach bag to use during the stay.

We had some issues with the room we were initially given and were upgraded to an ocean-view room right away as a result. The complimentary departure lounge was a cherry on top, which can be used by anyone who would like to take a shower, repack, and prepare for their departure after they've already checked out. We used it for an hour to get ready for our flight after spending the whole day enjoying the property on our last day. We were also given complimentary late check-out until 2pm, but this may be because of the length of our stay.

Although the West coast of the island was not our favourite coast overall, we did enjoy the calm bays of Ko'olina and the beautiful sunsets. The hotel is also located very close to the airport – it only took 20 minutes to get there when we departed.

Would highly recommend if you're looking to stay on the West Coast and are looking for luxury accommodations in a quiet part of O'ahu.

Beautiful location . Perfect ambiance for relaxing and taking a break from busy life. The cove was perfect to take a swim in the ocean. Many pools on property to pick from to enjoy. The Ohana pool was my favorite. Mina’s Fish house and Noe restaurants were both beautiful and delicious.

Wonderful and clean room, great balcony, and plenty of pool seating and easy access to the private lagoon. The dining options are very tasty but a bit overpriced, at least for the cafe options. Service was also awesome.
