The thing about staying here – and this is something you only figure out after a day or two – is that you’re experiencing Horcon the way locals always hoped visitors would. There’s no pool because, well, you’ve got the entire Pacific Ocean right there, and the concierge (who’s lived in the area for like twenty years) will tell you exactly when low tide hits so you can explore the rock pools without fighting crowds. The parking situation is actually pretty smooth, which is rare for coastal Chile, and the building stays surprisingly quiet even when the weekend crowd rolls in from Valparaíso. I was there during a busy February weekend and barely heard any noise from other guests or the street. One small thing – the Wi-Fi can get a bit spotty during evening hours when everyone’s uploading their sunset photos, but honestly, that kind of forced digital detox isn’t the worst thing.
