GReaT trails yercaud by GRT Hotels

You know what struck me first about GReaT trails yercaud? The location is absolutely perfect – they’ve positioned themselves right at the 20th hairpin bend, which honestly gives you this incredible vantage point over the valley that most hotels in the hills just can’t match. I mean, driving up those winding roads can be a bit nerve-wracking (especially if you’re not used to hill station drives), but once you pull into their driveway, there’s this immediate sense of “okay, we’ve arrived somewhere special.” The parking is actually quite spacious too, which is a relief after navigating those narrow mountain roads.

The property itself feels like someone really thought about what travelers want when they escape to Yercaud. It’s got that mountain resort vibe without being pretentious about it – you’ll find yourself naturally gravitating toward the common areas that face the valley, especially in the evenings when the mist starts rolling in. The rooms are well-appointed (this is proper 5-star territory), but what I really appreciated were the little touches that show they understand hill station stays: thick curtains for those early mountain sunrises, decent heating for when it gets chilly, and – this might sound small – but the hot water pressure is actually reliable, which isn’t always a given in the hills. The staff genuinely knows the area well too; they’ll tell you the best times to visit Lady’s Seat or when the lake is less crowded, that sort of local insight you can’t get from guidebooks.

What really sets this place apart though is how it balances being a retreat without feeling isolated. You’re close enough to the main Yercaud attractions – the botanical garden, Shevaroy Temple, all the usual spots – but far enough from the main town chaos that you actually get that peaceful hill station experience. The restaurant does solid South Indian fare (their breakfast spread is particularly good), and honestly, after a day of exploring those coffee plantations and viewpoints, coming back to a comfortable room with that valley view… it just works. The 9.0 rating makes sense when you experience it – it’s not perfect, but it delivers on what you’re actually looking for in a Yercaud stay. I’d definitely come back, especially during the cooler months when the weather’s at its best.
