Hilton Hiroshima Overview
So here’s the thing about the Hilton Hiroshima – it’s actually one of those hotels that gets everything right without trying too hard to impress you. I mean, you walk into the lobby and it just feels… settled, you know? Not flashy like some of the newer places, but there’s this solid confidence about it that makes sense when you realize it’s been here long enough to really understand what travelers need.
The location is honestly perfect if you’re doing the Hiroshima thing properly. You’re right in Naka-ku, which means you can walk to Peace Memorial Park in about ten minutes (and trust me, you’ll want to do this walk – it’s through some really nice quiet streets that give you a feel for the city). The main shopping areas along Hondori are basically right there too, and – this is something I didn’t expect – you’re close enough to the tram lines that getting to Miyajima for the day is pretty painless. The staff actually knows the tram schedules, which saved me from standing around looking confused with a map.
What really won me over though was how they handle the small stuff. The rooms are larger than most Japanese hotels – you can actually open your suitcase without rearranging the furniture – and the beds are proper comfortable, not just adequate. The air conditioning works without sounding like a helicopter (you’d be surprised how rare this is), and the bathrooms have those deep tubs that are perfect after walking around the city all day. Oh, and the elevators are fast, which matters more than you think when you’re on the 20th floor and running late for dinner.
I stayed during cherry blossom season when everything in Hiroshima gets a bit crazy, but the hotel felt like this calm bubble away from all that tourist chaos. The breakfast buffet is solid – they do both Japanese and Western options well, and the coffee is actually good coffee, not hotel coffee. There’s this quiet efficiency to the whole place that I really appreciated. Check-in was quick, they stored my luggage without any fuss when I arrived early, and when I needed restaurant recommendations, the concierge gave me actual local spots, not just the obvious tourist places.
Honestly, the 9.2 rating makes total sense to me. It’s not trying to be the most Instagram-worthy hotel in the city, but it nails all the practical stuff that makes a trip work smoothly. You know how sometimes you stay somewhere and you’re constantly dealing with little annoying things? That just doesn’t happen here. The whole experience feels thoughtful – from the way they’ve soundproofed the rooms (Hiroshima can get surprisingly busy) to having English-speaking staff available when you need them. If you’re planning to spend your days out exploring the city and memorials, then come back to somewhere comfortable and reliable, this is your spot.

What could be improved: Have to pay 25000yen for parking, would have preferred an insensitive rather than a pool.
The hotel as well appointed as was our room. The buffet breakfast was outstanding and well worth it. We were offered a room upgrade that included access to the lounge and the breakfast. It was well worth it!

Very good hotel, only a short bus journey from Hiroshima Station. Rooms were a great size and very comfortable. Bath in the room was a larger than others I have experienced in Japan. We got the breakfast included in our stay which was a buffet...
