HOTEL OVERVIEW
You know what? The Hilton Phoenix Resort at the Peak honestly surprised me – and I mean that in the best way possible. When you’re driving up North 16th Street (which, let’s be real, isn’t the most scenic approach), you might wonder what you’ve gotten yourself into. But then you pull into the property and suddenly you’re in this desert oasis situation that actually works.
The thing about this place is it sits right at the base of the Phoenix Mountains, so you’re getting these incredible views of Camelback Mountain without paying those crazy Scottsdale resort prices. I stayed here during shoulder season in March, and honestly, the pool area was where I spent most of my time – it’s got this relaxed vibe where you’ll see families during the day but it quiets down nicely in the evenings. The rooms are solid Hilton quality (nothing groundbreaking, but clean and comfortable), though I’d definitely request something facing the mountains if you can swing it. The courtyard-facing rooms can get a bit echoey when there are events happening.
What I really appreciated was how easy it was to get around from here. You’re maybe ten minutes from the Biltmore area if you want to do some serious shopping, and the hiking trails at Piestewa Peak are practically next door – perfect for those early morning hikes before it gets stupid hot. The staff actually knows the area well too, which you don’t always get at chain hotels. The front desk guy gave me detailed directions to a local breakfast spot that wasn’t in any guidebook, and it ended up being a highlight of my trip. Parking is free (thank god, because paid parking in Phoenix is getting ridiculous), and the resort feels more intimate than those massive Scottsdale spreads where you need a golf cart just to find your room. I mean, it’s not going to blow your mind – the 7.3 rating is pretty spot-on – but it hits that sweet spot of being nice enough to feel like a vacation while keeping you connected to what makes Phoenix interesting beyond just lying by a pool.

We stayed here for the water park. It didn't disappoint. It was fabulous! It closed early one day because they weren't busy enough and not enough staff. So, we were bummed we missed out a bit.
We loved the on-site restaurants, spa and numerous walks. You don't need to leave the property if you don't want to. It's all here
