There’s a 7-Eleven literally around the corner, which saved me multiple times, and you’re maybe a five-minute walk from some genuinely good local restaurants that tourists never seem to find.

The rooms themselves are… well, they’re not huge, but they’re thoughtfully laid out in that way Japanese hotels do so well. Everything has its place, and the European theme continues with these heavy curtains and dark wood furniture that could feel stuffy but somehow feels cozy instead. The beds are actually comfortable – not always a given in business hotels – and the bathrooms are spotlessly clean with decent water pressure. I stayed during cherry blossom season (probably the worst time to visit if you hate crowds), and even with the city packed with tourists, the hotel felt calm and well-managed. Check-in was smooth, staff spoke solid English, and they actually helped me figure out the best route to Matsushima Bay without trying to sell me some overpriced tour package. Honestly, for an 8.4 rating, it delivers exactly what you’d expect – nothing groundbreaking, but solid, reliable, and with enough character to make it memorable.
