HOTEL OVERVIEW
You know what struck me first about the Hyatt Centric? It’s actually right there on Front Street where all the action happens, but somehow they’ve managed to keep it from feeling like you’re sleeping above Sloppy Joe’s. I mean, you’re literally steps from Mallory Square and the sunset celebration madness, which is honestly perfect if you want to stumble back to your room after watching the street performers do their thing.
The resort itself has this interesting vibe – it’s polished enough that you feel like you’re staying somewhere nice (the spa is legitimately good, not just hotel-decent), but it doesn’t try too hard to be fancy in that overwrought way some Key West places do. The rooms are what you’d expect from Hyatt, though I’ll say the balcony views vary wildly depending on which side you’re on. If you can swing a water view, do it – otherwise you might be staring at the parking situation on Front Street, which isn’t exactly postcard material. Speaking of parking, yeah, it’s there and it works, but this is downtown Key West so don’t expect some massive suburban hotel lot.
What I really appreciated was how they’ve positioned themselves in the whole Key West ecosystem. You’re close enough to walk to Duval Street when you want that scene (and trust me, sometimes you don’t), but you can also easily get to the quieter spots like the West Martello Tower or just head down to the docks without dealing with the cruise ship crowds that pile up near Mallory Square during the day. The hotel staff actually knows the area too – like, they’ll tell you which happy hours are worth it and which sunset spots aren’t completely overrun. Honestly, the pool area becomes this nice little refuge when downtown gets too intense, especially during Fantasy Fest or when there are multiple cruise ships in port. The whole place has good bones, you know? It’s not trying to be some tropical resort fantasy – it knows it’s in downtown Key West and works with that instead of against it. The 8.2 rating feels about right; it’s solid without being extraordinary, but sometimes that’s exactly what you want when you’re dealing with the beautiful chaos that is Key West.

Location, close to marina and great restaurants off of Duvall, loved that I could book excursions,water sports and leave right from the hotel . Great pool and bar. LOVED the reusable water bottle concept with flavored water cooler.
