When you first arrive at Jumeirah Saadiyat Island Abu Dhabi, honestly, the scale of the place takes a moment to sink in. This five-star resort stretches along what feels like an endless private beach on Abu Dhabi‘s cultural island — and I mean that literally, since you’re sharing this strip of sand with the Louvre Abu Dhabi just down the coast. The lobby’s soaring ceilings and floor-to-ceiling windows frame views of the Arabian Gulf that make you pause mid-check-in. There’s something about the way the light filters through here that immediately signals you’ve left the city behind.

What struck me most about staying here is how removed you feel from mainland Abu Dhabi, even though you’re only about 20 minutes from the airport.
