La Cabana Beach & Spa, By Ashvem Beach Overview
Look, I’ve stayed at my fair share of beach resorts in Goa, and La Cabana genuinely surprised me – in a good way. You know how sometimes a place looks amazing online but then you show up and it’s just… meh? This wasn’t one of those times. The moment you walk through their entrance (which is literally a two-minute walk from Ashvem Beach), you get this immediate sense that someone actually cares about the details here. The lobby has this warm, lived-in feel with local artwork that doesn’t look like it came from a hotel supply catalog, and honestly, the staff remembered my name by day two without me having to spell it out repeatedly.
What really got me though was how they’ve managed to feel upscale without being stuffy – I mean, it’s a 5-star property but you can still walk around in flip-flops and a sarong without getting side-eye from anyone. The spa is where they really shine (pun intended, I guess). I’m usually skeptical of hotel spas because they tend to be overpriced and underwhelming, but their Ayurvedic treatments are legit – they use actual local practitioners, not just staff who did a weekend certification course. The rooms are spacious enough that you’re not bumping into your travel companion every five minutes, and the AC actually works properly, which… if you’ve been to India in the summer, you know that’s not always a given. Now, I will say the 7.8 rating makes sense because it’s not perfect – the WiFi can be spotty during peak hours, and sometimes the restaurant service slows down when they’re busy (which is most evenings). But here’s the thing about Ashvem Beach that a lot of people don’t realize: it’s still relatively uncrowded compared to the chaos of Baga or Calangute. You can actually hear the waves at night instead of techno music from beach shacks, and there’s this lovely stretch where you can walk for twenty minutes without dodging jet skis or aggressive vendors. La Cabana gets this vibe perfectly – they’re right in the sweet spot where you have access to good restaurants and activities, but you’re not in the middle of a tourist circus. Plus, if you want to explore, Arambol is just a short scooter ride north, and you can easily day-trip to the Saturday Night Market in Arpora without feeling like you’re trekking across the continent.

The location, the ambience, the staff. Especially the chef of dosa and egg was very polite and friendly. The main chef who made a particular dish as requested was very friendly and open to the idea, and the fish was very tasty. The managers, Vijay...
Location: right by the beach with private access
Very family friendly. I travelled with a 5 year old and a 9 month old. The locality is quite safe and the resort is very accessible
on the beach
The staff at the restaurant namely Sushant, Philip and Bonny made our sojourns at meal times such a pleasure. I think the information we got from Agnello whenever we wanted to plan our day made our sightseeing trips worthwhile. Our overall experience...
Very good location. Breakfast bakery items are very less and looks dull.
Location
Infrastructure made up of woods. A pleasent feel of nature. I really like the hotel.
Location and infrastructure
The location of the resort was the highlight.. ie., its proximity and accessibility to the beach. The property as a whole was well kept and beautiful. The breakfast spread and quality were good.
Perfect position for the beach, nice pool but small. Staff were lovely and very helpful. Food was very good - we were half board so included lunch or dinner. Close to lots of other restaurants if you fancy a change.
