La Vista Hakodate Bay Overview
You know what really gets me about La Vista Hakodate Bay? It’s that moment when you walk into your room and see that view of the harbor stretching out below – honestly, it stops you mid-sentence. I mean, Hakodate Bay isn’t just pretty, it’s got this working port energy mixed with those gentle hills rolling down to the water that makes you want to just stand there with your coffee for way too long.
The hotel sits right in the Toyokawa area, which is actually perfect because you’re close enough to hear the morning bustle from the fish markets (in a good way, not a “wake you up at 4 AM” way), but far enough that you’re not dealing with all the tourist chaos around the ropeway. The staff here really knows their stuff – they’ll tell you the best time to catch the squid boats coming in, or when the light hits Mount Hakodate just right for photos. I stayed here in late spring, and the woman at the front desk casually mentioned that the cherry blossoms along the waterfront would be perfect in about three days. She was right, obviously.
What really sets this place apart though is how they’ve nailed that balance between feeling upscale without being stuffy. The onsen on the top floor – and I’m not usually an onsen person – actually converted me. There’s something about soaking in those hot waters while watching the city lights start to twinkle across the bay that just works. The water’s got this silky feel that tells you it’s the real deal, not some fancy hotel trying to fake it. Plus, they keep it open until midnight, which is clutch when you’ve spent the day wandering around the old warehouses and your feet are screaming. The breakfast spread is another thing entirely – they do this whole kaiseki-style presentation, but it’s not precious about it. You’ll find yourself trying sea urchin at 8 AM and somehow that feels completely normal. The Hokkaido crab alone makes the stay worth it, and I say that as someone who’s usually grabbing convenience store onigiri for breakfast. Parking was surprisingly easy for Japan (there’s a small lot, and they don’t gouge you for it), and the whole check-in process was smooth even with my terrible Japanese. Look, it’s not the cheapest option in Hakodate, but when you’re watching the sun set over the Tsugaru Strait from your room, calculating cost per view minute… well, it actually pencils out pretty well.
The finest healing hotels of the world feature renowned spa treatments, nutritional programs, and mindfulness practices that have attracted wellness seekers for generations.

My reservation had been cancelled & I had to repay for my stay! Hotel representative told me it has cancelled my reservation & refund it back to your company with free of charge. You should reimburse back the refund to me ASAP. I had to pay my stay...
The deco & the location
What could be improved: The breakfast wasn’t as superb as what I was expecting but still good
The hotel was old but well renovated which has a really good twist of western Japanese style. The hotel is located at a convenient spot where most of the tourist attractions are in walkable or short drive distance.
Good view , big room , nice staffs
What could be improved: Everyone will be paid for onzen although we didn’t use these facilities
