HOTEL OVERVIEW
You know, I’ve driven past Lake Lawn Resort probably a hundred times on Geneva Street without really paying attention to it – which honestly was a mistake. This place sits right on Delavan Lake in a way that makes you wonder why every hotel isn’t built like this. The moment you pull into the circular drive, you get it. The main building has this classic resort feel without being stuffy about it, and the lake is right there, not hidden behind some other buildings or parking lots like so many “lakefront” places manage to do.
What really surprised me was how they’ve managed to feel both upscale and genuinely welcoming at the same time. The lobby has these huge windows facing the water, and during my stay in early fall, I’d grab coffee there in the mornings just to watch the mist come off the lake. The rooms – well, mine faced the water and had one of those little balconies where you can actually sit without your knees hitting the railing. Fair warning though: if you’re here during summer weekends, it gets busy with Chicago folks (Delavan’s only about 90 minutes north), but honestly that just means the restaurants stay open later and there’s more happening around the lake. The staff seems pretty used to the seasonal rush and keeps things running smoothly.
I mean, it’s definitely a splurge – this isn’t your roadside motel situation – but you’re paying for the location and they don’t cut corners on the details. The parking is easy (which matters more than you’d think when you’re hauling luggage), the Wi-Fi actually works throughout the property, and room service doesn’t take forever. What I really appreciated was how quiet it stays at night despite being right on the water where you’d expect boat noise during the day. The sound of small waves hitting the shore is actually pretty perfect for sleeping. If you’re thinking about it for a weekend getaway or maybe an anniversary trip, it’s the kind of place where you can just stay put and not feel like you’re missing anything – though downtown Lake Geneva is only about ten minutes away if you want to venture out for antique shopping or those boat tours everyone talks about.

Overall, the place is very cozy, clean, and the staff is pleasant. However, for $300 a night, the pillows could be softer and without lumps. It would be nice to have at least one bottle of water in the room, as it’s always a nice touch. Everything else is great – the location and atmosphere.
