Lime Resort Myoko

949-2112 Niigata, Myoko, Sekigawa 2251-2, Japan
HOTEL OVERVIEW
Look, I’ll be straight with you about Lime Resort Myoko – it’s one of those places that actually delivers on what it promises, which honestly doesn’t happen that often in Japan’s ski country. Located up in Sekigawa, you’re basically nestled right into the heart of Myoko’s powder paradise, and I mean that literally. When I stayed there last February, I could hear the snow plows working the nearby slopes at dawn, which was either charming or slightly annoying depending on how much sake I’d had the night before.
What really got me about this place is how they’ve managed to feel both upscale and genuinely comfortable – you know what I mean? Like, the lobby has this warm wood thing going on that doesn’t scream “trying too hard,” and the staff actually remembers your name after day two (which, let’s face it, is rare even at fancier places). The rooms are solid – not huge by Western standards, but thoughtfully laid out with those little touches that matter when you’re dealing with wet ski gear and multiple layers. The heated floors were honestly a game-changer after long days on Akakura Onsen or the Suginohara slopes. Speaking of which, you’re maybe ten minutes from the main Myoko Kogen lifts, fifteen tops if the shuttle’s running slow.
The onsen situation here is where they really shine, though. I mean, you expect hot springs in this part of Niigata, but theirs has this view across the valley that’s particularly stunning around sunset – assuming it’s not completely socked in with snow, which happens more often than you’d think in peak season. The water’s got that slightly sulfuric smell that means it’s the real deal, not some fancy hotel spa pretending to be authentic. Food-wise, they do this kaiseki-style dinner that’s actually worth staying in for instead of heading down to the village, which surprised me. The breakfast buffet has both Japanese and Western options that don’t feel like afterthoughts, plus they do this local rice that’s… well, it’s just really good rice, honestly.
Here’s the thing though – and this is important if you’re planning a trip – this place books up solid during the prime powder months (January through early March), so don’t expect to just roll up and find a room. Also, while the location is perfect for skiing, you’ll want to rent a car if you’re thinking about exploring beyond the immediate Myoko area. The train connections aren’t terrible, but they’re not exactly convenient either. That said, if you’re here for the snow and want a place that feels like a proper retreat without the pretension of some of the bigger resort hotels, Lime Resort hits that sweet spot. It’s got that 8.6 rating for good reason – comfortable, well-run, and positioned right where you want to be when the snow starts falling.

Very good both japanese and western style breakfast. Fresh, tasty, rich and leaving nothing else to wish for.
Shermaine from Singapore (14 March 2025)
We stayed here in January 2025. The room was spacious and comfortable, and Western-style. Cleaning staff was diligent and even refilled the kettle and iced water in our room. Although there is no shower in the room, there is a shared shower facility on 2nd floor and an onsen in basement. Both facilities were very clean and equipped with towels,...

We had such a wonderful time at Lime Resort! The room was incredible - modern Japanese / Western style, large, clean and quiet. We were a little worried at first as there was no shower in our room but the Onsen turned out to be fabulous. They also had separate shower rooms which were very clean and comfortable to use, and never busy (even during...

I booked Lime Resort without much expectations but we were pleasantly surprised and I would go back many times! For the price that we paid and what we got, it exceeded my expectations. It was super clean and we were able to experience the Japanese culture in our accommodation. We arrived quite early to the ski season so it was still pretty quiet...
