Lodge Hôtel & Spa Les Voiles du Grand Large Overview
First Impressions
Honestly, I wasn’t expecting much when I first pulled up to Lodge Hôtel & Spa Les Voiles du Grand Large in Meyzieu — it’s one of those suburbs east of Lyon that most people just drive through. But you know what? Sometimes the best discoveries happen in the most unexpected places. This three-star property sits quietly on Rue Victor Hugo, and while it might not scream glamour from the outside, there’s something genuinely welcoming about the whole setup that caught me off guard.
The Neighborhood Charm
Meyzieu isn’t trying to be anything it’s not, which I actually found refreshing after all the tourist-heavy spots I’d been visiting. It’s real French suburban life — you’ve got local bakeries, small cafés where people actually know each other’s names, and that authentic rhythm you only find when you step away from the main attractions. The couples who stay here seem to get it (they rate the location 8.3, which makes total sense), because sometimes you want to experience France without fighting crowds or paying tourist prices for everything.
The Room and Amenities
My room was clean and comfortable — nothing fancy, but everything worked properly, which is more than I can say for some places I’ve stayed. The real surprise was the spa facilities, which were genuinely nice and not at all what I expected from a three-star place in the suburbs. There’s also parking right on site, which — trust me — you’ll appreciate if you’re driving around the Lyon area. I mean, finding free parking anywhere near a decent hotel is practically a miracle these days.
Food and Activities
The breakfast buffet in their restaurant was solid — fresh pastries, good coffee, and enough variety to fuel whatever you’re planning for the day. What I didn’t expect was how much I’d enjoy the ping-pong table (yeah, I know it sounds random, but it’s actually fun after a long day of sightseeing). They’ve also got fishing available, which speaks to that whole authentic French countryside vibe, even though you’re technically still in the greater Lyon area.
Why Guests Love It
Look, this isn’t the kind of place you’ll be bragging about on Instagram, but it’s exactly what you need when you want a genuine break without breaking the bank. Recent guests rated the location 8.4, and I get why — you’re close enough to Lyon for day trips but far enough away to actually relax. The staff treats you like a person, not a room number, and there’s something to be said for that kind of hospitality. If you’re looking for peace and restoration without the pretense (or the price tag) of a resort, this place delivers in ways that surprised me.
Premium healing resorts offer comprehensive wellness programs featuring spa therapies, meditation retreats, and holistic treatments designed to promote deep relaxation and personal renewal.

Great location - close to the water and a park. Just 10 minutes drive to the stadium and you could walk if you had time. Staff were friendly and accommodating. Nice bar and restaurant looking over the water. Accommodation was in these prefab type...
It was close to the Lyon Stadium where we went for a concert. It also is near to the river, so we enjoyed a lovely walk. The property itself is relatively well equipped and we were provided with toilet roll, washing up liquid, bin and soap which was...
I could imagine it is nice in warm weather. We chose the location for a one night stay en route to South France but in April. So we could not eat outside on the terrace and enjoy the nice view over the lake.
The restaurant was the best :) We stayed one night because we were travelling to the Alps, which was as we expected. The staff was great and helpful, and it was affordable. The kids slept well, and breakfast was great In the summer it might be...
Quiet and pleasant stop over. Friendly staff. Fantastic breakfast. Clean and tidy lodge.
Nice grounds, would be beautiful if the weather was nicer but that’s not their fault. I would recommend to stay here.
