Lodge Tower
Lodge Tower Overview
First Impressions
Walking into Lodge Tower for the first time, you immediately sense this isn’t your typical ski lodge. The four-star property sits right in the heart of Vail, and honestly, the location alone makes it worth considering — I mean, you literally ski right to the door. There’s something refreshingly unpretentious about the place, which I actually appreciate more than some of the flashier options around town. The lobby feels warm without being overly rustic, and the staff genuinely seems to know what they’re doing.
The Perfect Vail Location
You know what really sets this place apart? The location score of 10.0 isn’t just marketing fluff — it’s actually earned. Being right on Vail Road means you’re steps away from everything that matters, but somehow the property manages to feel tucked away from the chaos. I’ve stayed at places closer to the village core that felt more hectic, while Lodge Tower gives you that sweet spot of accessibility without the noise. The ski-to-door access is genuinely convenient (not just a nice-to-have), especially after a long day on the mountain when you’re too tired to walk anywhere.
Rooms That Actually Work
The room I stayed in was thoughtfully designed — not huge, but everything had its place. What impressed me was how well they understood what skiers actually need: proper boot storage, good lighting for getting ready in the dark, and windows that actually open for fresh mountain air. The beds are solid, and I slept well despite being someone who usually struggles with hotel mattresses. There’s also enough space to spread out your gear without feeling like you’re living in a closet, which matters more than you’d think during a ski trip.
Morning Fuel and Evening Wind-Down
Breakfast here is a pleasant surprise — they offer both continental and American options, and the quality is better than I expected. The continental spread isn’t just sad pastries and coffee; there’s actually substance to it. After breakfast, if you’re not hitting the slopes, the fitness center is well-equipped enough for a real workout, and there’s a golf course within a couple miles if you’re visiting during the warmer months. I also tried the fishing nearby (they can point you in the right direction), which was a nice change of pace from the usual mountain activities.
Why Guests Love It
Couples particularly seem drawn to this place, and I can see why — it strikes that balance between being active and restorative without forcing either agenda. The parking on-site is honestly a godsend in Vail, where finding a spot can be a nightmare during peak season. What really won me over, though, was how the property manages to feel both connected to everything Vail offers and separate enough that you can actually unwind. It’s not trying to be the fanciest place in town, but it delivers on what matters most: comfort, location, and that sense of mountain peace that brings people to Colorado in the first place.

They have kitchen and we actually got three bathrooms for our two-bedroom suite. Super great for traveling with kids. The suite gave extra space for kids to run around. There is a big balcony and we can see the beautiful fall color right from our rooms.

The rooms that were combined to accomodate 6 of us exceeded our expectations! The locations for Oktoberfest, the ride to and from Lionshead and the gondola were very easy to access.
